The planning committee of the Women's Auxiliary for the
Sigma Alpha Mu national convention includes (seated, left to

League Preparing for Season Opener Sept. 8

Home's September
Plans Revolve Around
High Holy Days

The monthly birthday party of
the Jewish Home for Aged, held
Thursday afternoon, featured a
program of entertainment ar-
ranged by the Women's Auxili-
ary, under the direction of Mrs.
Dora Bregman.
Featured were presentations
by Eve Meister, dramatic teach-
er., Abe Schuchman, a resident
who played several violin-selec-
tions, accordionist Don Broesky,
and Denise Greengood, six-year-
old singer, who is called the "Lit-
tle Sophie Tucker."
During September, there will
be great activity at the r Home in
preparation for the High Holy
Days. The staff and the residents
are busy with preliminary ar-
rangements necessary for the oc-
casion.
Rabbi David S. Bakst will
preach the sermons during the
Holy Days and Cantor Harry
Greenfield will officiate at all
the services.
Dr. Benjamin Welling, chair-
man of the recreation and occu-
pational therap y committee, an-
nounces that d uring the month
movies will be shown on Tues-
day nights and . bingo will be
played twice a week.
On Wednesda y, Michael Mich-
lin will read to the residents
from Yiddish literature. There
will be a panel discussion by the
residents on Sept. 8 on the sub-
ject, "What Do Older People
Need?"
Rabbi Leizer Levin has been
invited as guest speaker on the
evening of Sept. 15, and will give
impressions h' s recent trip to
Israel.
Mrs. Sarah Friedman will en-
tertain 'The residents with Yid-
dish readings and songs on Sept.
22.
The monthly birthday party is
scheduled for the afternoon of
Sept. 23. A variety dance pro-
gram has been prepared by the
Estelle Shifman Dance Studio.
