Miss Mitzi Rachleff has returned to this city after a six-week
vacation in Miami Beach, Fla. She will spend the remainder of
the summer visiting friends in South Haven and New York.
Mrs. Harry Silverman, of 17471 Manderson, has just returned
from an extended trip in Northern Michigan, which included a
stay at the Colonial Hotel, in Mt. Clemens.
Recent Detroit guests at Oakton Manor Resort, located on the
shores of Lake Pewaukee, Wis., included Mr. and Mrs. Burt Apple-
baum, of 24050 Seneca, Oak Park, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Elkus, of
19701 Cheyenne, and Dr. and Mrs. Milton Shiffman, of Northlawn
Ave.
In honor of Mrs. Molly Weitzman's 80th birthday, an open
house reception will be held Sunday, Aug. 29, 2 to 5 p.m., at the
home of Mr:; and Mrs. Max Biber, 18994 Oak Drive. Jake Dimberg
of Pawtucket, R. Mrs. Ida Jerou and family of Long Beach,
Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. B. Geyer of Miami, Fla., will be
among the out-of-town guests.
Miss Elaine Kleinberg and Miss Marcia Becker, of this city
have returned home from a two-week stay at the Nautilus Hotel,
in Miami Beach, Fla.
Cpl. Harold L. Bienenfeld has returned from service in Japan,
and is now at home at 15089 Snowden.
Mr. and Mrs. Phil Stellar, of 1'7344 San Juan, announce the
forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Gail Roslyn, to Mena-
chem Silver, son of Mr. Max Silver, of Leeds, England. The cere-
mony will take place on Sunday, at the family home, with a re-
ception following from 3 to 9 p.m. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Gold (Doris Waxman), and infant
son, Robert Craig, formerly of Webb Ave., will be in their new
home at 19199 Appleton, after Monday.
Mrs. Abe Silberstein, of this city, has left for Chicago, Ill., to
attend the wedding of her grandson, Wilbur Harold Richmond,
which will be celebrated on Sunday.
Among the recent Detroit visitors at Scaroon Manor, on
Schroon Lake, N. Y., was Irving Mosten, of 17387 Birwood.
Mr. and Mrs. William Elkin, of the Elkin Hotel and Travel
Bureau, have just returned from a stay at the. Concord Hotel in
Kiamesha Lake, N. Y.
Miss Barbara J. Weinberg will be in Detroit for a two-week
visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weinberg, of Wildernere
Ave., on Wednesday. Miss Weinberg is on vacation from her job
with the State Department of Education in Boston, Mass.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Schwartz (Rhoda Galin), of Stockton,
Calif., are in Detroit as guest8- of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al-
bert E. Galin, of Wisconsin Ave.
Linda Falk and Daniel Clark are presently attending a Stu-
dent Council Leadership conference at Camp Cheley, Estes Park,
Colo. They are representatives of Mumford High School.
Miss Maxine Stern, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. JaCk Stern,
former Detroiters, now of Beverly Hills, Calif., is spending the re-
mainder of the summer in Detroit visiting relatives and friends.
She is staying with Mrs. Shirley Sorscher, of 3021 Tuxedo. Prior to
her visit here, Miss Stern visited with family and friends in Chi-
cago, Ill.

Mendota, was united in marriage
to Richard Harold Simon, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Simon, of
16910 LaSalle. Dr. Richard C.
Hertz officiated.
The bride chose a gown of pure
white silk shantung, featuring a
rounded neckline and s h o r t,
puffed sleeves appliqued in Alen-
con lace, iridescent beads and-
seed pearls. Her bouffant skirt
was of waltz length. A waist-
length veil of illusion fell from
a tiara of seed pearls, and she
carried stephanotis on .a Bible.
Janet Willis as maid of honor
was the bride's only attendant,
and Donald Ralph Simon was the
bridegroom's best man.
Following a reception at the
family home, the couple left for
a wedding trip to the Poconoes,
in Pennsylvania, after which
they will reside at 3010 W. Chi-
cago.

Tel Aviv University Plans
Expansion for Second Year

TEL AVIV, (JTA) — A new
department of Hebrew studies,
philosophy and literature will
be opened at Tel Aviv University
in October, according to an an-
nouncement by Mayor Chaim
Levanon. The Mayor disclosed
that the High School of Law,
Economics and Administration
will be merged with the uni-
versity.
Mayor Levanon made his an-
nouncement at ceremonies cele-
brating the end of Tel Aviv
University's first year. He re-
vealed plans for the construc-
tion of a new University City
here are under preparation. The
university, he said, will expand
its program—physical as well as
intellectual—to serve this area
and make it possible for more
students to pursue their studies
here, without incurring the ad-
ditional expense of • living in
Jerusalem, where the Hebrew
University is located.
