MRS. A. ALBERT SUGAR

Mrs. A. Albert Sugar will head
the program of the Department
of Michigan Jewish War Vet-
erans Auxiliary, after being
elected president at a recent
convention in Detroit. Serving
with her will be the following:
Mesdames Sam Spolan and
Morton Oppenheim, vice-presi-
dents; Roland Gottesman, trea-
surer; Sol Hoberman, conduc-
tress; Sol Latzer, chaplain; Mar-
vin Spinner, guard; Miss Harriet
Shear, historian; and Mrs. Al-
bert Rosen, patriotic instruc-
tress.
Mrs. Sugar made the following
appointmehts to fill out her ad-
ministration for the coming

"To Learn, to Teach, to Do" is
the central theme of the year's
activities of Adas Shalom Syn-
agogue Sisterhood, it was an-
nounced this week by Mrs.
George R. Liss, newly-elected
president. •
The first major program will
be a New Year's Almanac, in
which congregational members
may exchange traditional greet-
ings. These listings will be taken
until Sept. 1: The book also will
contain facts about the syna-
gogue, its activities and other in-
formation pertinent to Jewish
living.

Louis M. Goren, author of
several collections of poems, has
written a new set of verses, in
a pamphlet titled "Echoes of
Our Atomic Age," published by
William-Frederic Press (313 W.
35th, NY1).
He dedicates his little book
"to the intrepid mariners, sea-
farers, discoverers, builders of
America —"
On the occasion of New York's
300th birthday, his longest poem.
is "Rendezvous With Father
Knickerbocker." There is a long
poem also under the title "I Saw
Israeli" and 39 other verses.

The officers and members of
the Kadimah Social Club extend
their deepest sympathy to Na-
than Ruzumna and his family
during their bereavement over
the recent loss of Mr. Ruzum-
na's mother, Mrs. Minnie Ru-
zumna.

Lt. Raymond Zussman and Lt.
Roy F. Green Posts and Auxili-
aries will present the first two
performances of the new Eartha
Kitt show, "Mrs. Patterson," the
evenings of Sept. 19 and 20, at
the Cass. Theater.
The two veterans organiza-
tions are presently selling tick-
ets for the performances, which
will constitute the show's world
premier.
In addition to those who wish
to see the show themselves, the
veterans groups are selling tick-
ets at $5.50 each to individuals
and organizations who would
thus enable hospitalized veter-
ans to see the show:
Members of the two Posts and
Auxiliaries will transport veter-
ans to and from veterans hospi-
tals in the area, take them to
dinner and invite them to the
show for each ticket sold and
designated for this purpose.
Tickets, whether for interested
individuals or for those who
wish to contribute to the enjoy-
