Germans Warned Against Perpetuation
Of Anti-Jewish Ritual Murder Legends

COLOGNE, (JTA)—The Koel-
nische Rundschau, an influential
local daily which on occasion
serves as mouthpiece for Chan-
cellor A d e n a u e r, has turned
against the retelling of ancient
ritual murder legends that tend
to keep alive ill will and hatred
toward Jews.

Vandals Desecrate
Synagogue in L. A.

LOS ANGELES, (JTA)—Spur-
red by protests from religious
leaders of all faiths, police are
intensifying their investigation
of a case of vandalism against
a Jewish place of workship.
The sacrilege occurred at the
Sun Valley Jewish Community
Center. Worshippers arriving for
services found that vandals had
entered during the night
through a broken window, de-
stroyed the Holy Scroll, burned
prayer books, and defaced the
pulpit.
City Councilman Everett Burk-
halter expressed the indignation
of the community over the oc-
curence, ascribed it to juvenile
delinquency, and declared that
he will continue to keep in touch
with the police department as
efforts are made to apprehend
the vandals.
