JERUSALEM, (AJP)—The an-
cient Philistine city of Ashke-
lon, which figured so much in
the time of King David and is
today one of the most thriving
communities in Israel, has be-
come the subject of a new pop-
ular Israeli song. The song,
written by the well,-known Is-
rael poet, Yechiel Mohar and
set to music by M. Wilenski, has
been translated- into the follow-

with dedication and perseverance to purpose. He looked forward
for the development of that type of leadership to Bnai Brith,
which he called "the barometer of Jewish life in America."
In many ways Klutznick is an advance product of the very
Jewish environment he envisions in the future. Born in Kansas

things Jewish by experience and self-education: ,
"Intellect without humanity is not good enough"
From his parents, Orthodox Jews, he inherited a love for tra-
dition, heritage and Jewish ritual, experiences that are still part
of his individual and home pattern.
Klutznick in the course of our conversation reverted over and
over again to the phrase "what we need is a respected and re-
sponsible Jewish community." This perhaps was no accident since
he himself represents a new type as well as a fresh concept of
Jewish leadership. Leadership, as he conceives it, involves not
only 7esponsibility brit full devotion to dedication even in the
minutest details. And Jewish leadership to Klutznick is, indeed,
a full-time job, albeit without remuneration except for the grati-
fication that comes from service and accomplishment.
