Ben-Gurion Calls For New Israel Youth Movement Direct JTA Teletype Wire To The Jewish News TEL AVIV—Former Premier David Ben-Gurion called for the formation of a new youth move- ment in Israel to establish on a non-political basis settlements in the Negev and in the border areas. Speaking. at a youth rally in Beersheba, Mr. Ben-Gurioa also called for the establishment of laboratories and other techni- cal facilities in the Negev and other developing areas. Y.- (JTA)—Mordecai Kidron, Depu- ty Permanent Representative of Israel, deposited his govern- ment's instrument of ratifica- tion to the Convention on Politi- cal Rights for Women, bringing the number of ratifications to 11. The convention came into force 90 days after the deposit of the sixth ratification, 28 oth- er countries having signed but not yet acceded to the conven- tioxie The Gringo, a 46-foot yawl owned by Milton Levine and Ivan Shalit, was one of the boats entered in this year's Port Huron to Mackinac yacht race. It is believed that this is the first time a boat manned by a Jewish crew has entered in the competition. The boys finished in a corrected time of 50 hours, 28 minutes and 34 seconds, and although, at press time, all boats had not arrived at Mackinac, it appeared as if the Gringo had placed 16th in the Class C com- petition. The Gringo's crew, composed of Levine, Shalit, John Mayer, Richard Kanner, Irwin Yackness and David Hand, may cruise back to Detroit at a more lei- surely pace or may head for Chicago to have a try at the Chicago to Mackinac race.
