UJA Pays Final Tribute To Late Boston Leader NEW YORK, (JTA) — The United Jewish Appeal paid tri- bute to the late Israel Fried- lander, founder and first presi- dent of • the Combined Jewish Appeal of Greater Boston, who died suddenly in Boston at the age of 63. Less than 24 hours before his death he participated in a Com- bined Appeal meeting. He was also active in other Jewish or- ganizations and was a board member of the Associated Jew- ish Philanthropies. Mr. Friedlander, who was born in Boston, was highly praised by Edward M. M. Warburg, national chairman of the UJA, and Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, UJA execu- tive vice-chairman, for his hu- manitarian activities on behalf of needy Jews.
