Made on Oil Shipments

Direct JTA Teletype Wire
To The Jewish News

TEL AVIV, (JTA) — Delek,
the Israel national fuel corpora-
tion, has reached an agreement
with the Soviet Union for the
purchase of 100,000 tons of Rus-
sian crude oil, the first ship-
ments of which will begin to ar-
rive in this country shortly, it
was announced Tuesday by Dr.
I. Meron, director of Delek.
Earlier, Israel signed an agree-
ment for the purchase of 150,-
000 tons of fuel oil, deliveries of
which have been proceeding
without hitch, according to Dr.
Meron. The oil company official
also noted that shipments of
Russian oil cost only one half
as much to transport as Vene-
zuelan oil. The Soviet oil, for
which Israel pays in citrus prod-
ucts, fills about one-fourth of
Israel's annual needs.
