Suggestions to JC Council

Editor, The Jewish News:

The election of officers and
executive committee members of
the Jewish Community Council's
Delegate Assembly May 27 indi-
cates the need for a more demo-
c r a t i c procedure in selecting
persons for these positions.
As a delegate to JOC, I pro-
pie to the executive committee
for consideration,' and for pre-
sentation for approval to the
Delegate Assembly, that the
constitution be amended so that
candidates whether nominated
by the nominating committee or
petition be listed alphabetically.
Also the delegates should vote
for no more than the number
required for election.
Ballots should be distributed
to the delegates after the oral
explanation of the rules by the
chairman - of the nominating
committee and/or by the chief
executive. Candidates should be
introduced or, if absent, the or-
ganizations they represent
should be named. Rules on the
ballot should be clearly printed.
And, finally, the results should
be announced immediately after
the counting of ballots.
