Jetvish Center Adopts Program of
Cooperation, to Avoid Duplication
In Erection of Communal Buildings
In his report as president of
the Jewish Community Center,
at the annual meeting on June
3, at .the Davison Center, Har-
vey H. Goldman announced that
plans for future activities call
for cooperation with other agen-
cies and for joint building pro-
jects with the United Hebrew
Schools. Mr. Goldman stated:
"We are happy to report that
arrangements have been com-
pleted with the United Hebrew
Schools to share the use of its
new Esther Berman Memorial
Building at Schaefer and Sev-
en Mile Road. This branch of
the Center, which will open in
September, will be the head-
quarters for our extension op-
erations in the entire north-
west area. Abraham Kasten-
baum has just been engaged
as extension supervisor and
will coordinate the program
activities of the Center in the
Berman Building, as well as
services in the Oak Park-
Huntington Woods communi-
ty, and the Evergreen commu-
nity.
"We are awaiting word on
the approval of our plans for
a building in each of these
new neighborhoods. As a mat-
ter of Federation policy, it has
been agreed that the future
construction of community
buildings will be done on a
joint-agency basis. Just as our
extension program will be
housed in the main Hebrew
Schools buildin g, future
branches will include facilities
for both agencies. In this way,
it is anticipated that duplica-
tion in building will be avoid-
ed and coordination_ of pro-
gram affected. We expect that
during the next program year
we will witness a tremendous
growth in Center plant, in
Center program, and Center
services. We now have the staff
