Pilgrimage Includes
Gershenson's Garden

Mr. and Mrs. Aaron H. Ger-
shenson's beautiful garden at
their Palmer Woods home, 1700
Wellesley Drive, will be among
the eight Northwest Detroit gar-
dens opened to the public on
June 5 and 6, from 12 noon un-
til 6 p.m.
Visitors to these home gar-
dens will be taking Tour III of
the annual Garden Pilgrimage
for the benefit of the Detroit
Garden Center, headquarters of
which are on Belle Isle. The
Center, which is open the year
round to provide information
and all manner of assistance for
home gardeners, is partially sup-
ported by fees from the Pil-
grimage. A tour ticket, admit-
ting one to each garden listed
may be purchased in advance
from Garden Center, or at any
garden on the tour.
The Gershenson's formal gar-
den has an area of 100x75 feet.
At its far end is a pool, back of
which is a pergola with climb-
ing roses. On one side, two raised
beds of perennials are backed by
a white cedar hedge. A formal
rose bed adorns the other side.
In front of the pool, pink gera-
niums glow their greeting: There
are carefully planned arrange-
ments of delphiniums, iris, lilies
—in short, all manner of choice
perennials. In addition there is
a kitchen garden and a cutting
bed 50x40 feet.
