- DENVER, (JTA)—Interdating
between Jewish and non-Jewish
youngsters was frowned upon
here at a Jewish Youth Council
Institute at Camp Le Forest as

ond World Sephardic Congress
closed here after electing a 10-
member world directorate and a
30-member executive, consisting
of 10 Israelis and 20 Sephardic
leaders from abroad.
The parley called upon new
immigrants to Israel—more than
half of whom are Sephardic
Jews—to take up agricultural
work, but at the same time the
delegates urged . the Israel gov-
ernment and the Zionist move,.

elementary and secondary school
education and to help them ad-
just to the new life in Israel.
The delegates from some .20
countries called on , Sephardic
youth to immigrate to Israel and
help in the country's upbuilding.

Birobidjian's 20th Anniversary
LONDON, (JTA) — The 20th
anniversary of the establish-
ment of the autonomous Jewish .
region of Birobidjan in the USSR
was hailed in a broadcast from
Birobidjan monitored here. The
annonucer said that the "ar-
dor of full blooded life" flour-
ished in the region.

of Soviet crude oil have arrived
here to be tested for suitability
for refinement in the Haifa dis-
tillation plants.
The last batch of crude oil
samples were rejected, but this
shipment is understood to meet
requirements for processing in
Israel's plant s. Considerable
quantities of Soviet oil have
been purchased by Israel in ex-
change for citrus fruits sold to
the Russians.
