Concert May 23 COMbilled Halevy, Farband, Circle Choruses to Appear in number of musicians Prom the When the Halevy, Farband and Workmen's Circle Choruses merge for their second concert May 23, at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the singers will be under the baton of , three conductors. The largest Jewish chorus in America will be directed for the first two numbers by William Gayman, associate conductor of the Halevy Chorus since the in- ception of the group. Julius Miller, the first Halevy conductor who now resides in Chicago, Ill., will be here for the concert, and will conduct the next two pieces on the pro- gram The balance of the concert . I will be directed by Dan Froh- man, nationally prominent singer, composer and conductor who this year celebrates his sil- ver anniversary as conductor of the Halevy group. Many new choral works will be presented here for the first time, and will be heard to the background music of a large Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Composers represented on the program will include Hirshin, Posner, Rodgers, Rauch, Rom- berg, Rossini, Altman, Gersh- win, Bik Endeis, Robert Shaw, Bizet, Wilensky, Zaira Denza, Spialik, Zilberts, and Frohman.
