Initiate Campaign to Obtain Members
For Guardians of Israel Here, June 2

A campaign to obtain mem-
bers in Detroit for the "Guar-
dians of Israel," a national or-
ganization of Americans who
are rendering outstanding serv-
ice to the development of the
State of Israel, is announced by
Phillip Stollman, chairman of
the Detroit Committee for State
of Israel Bonds. Membership in
the "Guardians of Israel" is
based on the purchase of $1,000
in Israel Development Bonds.
"By their purchase of $1,000
in Israel Development Bonds,"
Stollman said, "members of the
`Guardian of Israel' register
their determination to watch
over Israel's economic security.
Their name is derived from Is-
rael's traditional `Shomrim', or
`Guardians' who protect the
frontiers of the country. In the
same manner, members of the
`Guardians of Israel' stand
watch over Israel's economic
frontiers."
Stollman emphasized the de-
cisive role which funds derived
from Israel's first Bond Issue--
the Indepenence Issue—have
played in the economic growth
of Israel. "More than 600,000
American purchasers of Israel
Independence Bonds have made
it the most successful bond issue
floated by a foreign government
in the U.S. since World War II,"
he said.
Plans for the formation of the
"Guardians of Israel" were set
forth at t h e International

Planning Conference for Israel
in Washington, in March.
I s r a el Development Bond
drives are now under way in the
U. S., Canada, Latin America,
and Western Europe.
Mr. Stollman, in a statement
of rejoicing on the sixth anni-
versary of the state of Israel,
declared:
"The highlight of the ob-
servance of Israel's sixth an-
niversary in the United States
is the launching of the new Is-
rael Development Issue. Moving
forward on the basis of the suc-
cess of Israel's first Bond Issue,
the new Development Issue will
provide the funds for acceler-
ated. economic advances, and
the achievement of the level of
strength and security necessary
to a modern nation.
"Israel Bond funds have made
possible the creation of an in-
dustrial country in a land whose
economy a few years ago was
not far above the level of the
neighboring states. Today, Is-
rael is already the most ad-
vanced country in its part of
the world. Under the impact of
Development Bond investments,
Israel will be enabled to achieve
a high measure of economic
self-sufficiency within the next
five to seven years."
On June 2, on the occasion
of the launching of the Israel
Development Bond Issue, it is
expected that Israel Ambassa-
dor Abba ; Eban will . be guest
speaker at a dinner at Hotel
Statler.

immortality

Deep in every human heart is the
longing for immortality. To be re-
membered not only during one's life-
time but when one is gone from this
earth, is the yearning which has filled
man's heart since the dawn of history.
In Jewish tradition, nothing has been
so endowed with immortality as the
link with the Land of Israel.

When drawing up your will, include
a bequest for the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kaye-
meth Le'Israel) Inc. to insure that a tract of land or
trees or a forest or a colony in Israel bearing your
name will confer immortality upon you and honor upon
your family,
