LOS ANGELES, (JTA)—Dr.
Otto Schirn, vice chairman of
the American Zionist Coun-
cil, announced he had re-
quested the council to invite
S. A. Dodge, president of
Lions International, to visit
Israel.
Mr. Dodge, who recently
visited Arab countries in the
Middle East, made strongly
anti-Israel statements during
a visit here. He subsequently
retracted these statements in
a letter to the Jewish Tele-
graphic Agency, explaining
that, at the time he had
made them, he had not been
fully informed of the situa-
tion.

To Exact Indemnifications
BONN, (JTA)—Mo -anting in-
dignation at German govern-
mental procrastination in issu-
ing the implementation regula-
tions to the Federal Indemnifi-
cation Law for individual com-
pensation claimants has led to
the tabling of a legal amend-
ment and of a parliamentary
interpellation by the Social
Democratic Party in the Bunde-
stag.
The Social Democratic draft
amendment seeks to correct
some of the deficiencies of the
Federal Indemnification Law.
Thus it proposes a more realis-
tic definition of the term "per-
secutee," provides for tax ex-
emption of compensation pay-
ments and directs the computa-
tion of certain pension payments
on the basis of the Nazi vic-
tim's average income in three
years immediately preceding the
onset of the persecution.

Sectarian Child's Book

"A Is for Angel" is a book of
the alphbet in picture and
rhyme. It was written and drawn
by Joan Gale Thomas and was
published by Lathrop, Lee &
Shepard (419 4th, NY16).
Regrettably, it is called "the
Protestant edition." That makes'
the book, which could so easily
have become interdominational
—with slight changes—a sectari-
an book.
