Rothschilds' Remains Removed From
Paris for Interment in Israel

PARIS, (JTA) — The remains
of the late Baron Edmond
Rothschild and his wife were
removed from their resting place
in the Pere La Chaise Cemetery
here and were started on the
long journey to Israel where
they will be re-interred. The
reburial is being carried out in
fulfillment of the wishes of the
Baron, who- has been dead 20
years.
Present at the ceremony in
the cemetery were members of
the famed Rothschild's family,
representatives of the French
government and French cultural
organizations with which the
late Baron was associated in-
cluding the Legion of Honor,
Ambassador Yaacov Tsur of Is-
rael and some 1,500 Parisians in-
cluding Jewish community lead-
ers.
Eulogies were delivered by
Jewish leaders who pointed out
that the projects carried out
with the Baron's assistance, in-
cluding the establishrhent of
wineries at Rishon LeZion
proved the feasibility of Jewish
settlement in portions of Pales-
tine other than Jerusalem. After
Baron Guy de Rothschild, pres-
ent head of the family, recited
the prayer for the dead and
services were conducted by Chief
Rabbi I. Kaplan, the Israeli na-
tional hymn, Hatikvah, was

Dies in Cleveland

for 40 years and former judge
of the Cleveland Common Pleas
Court, died March 25, following
a heart attack in his law office
in Cleveland.
Following his graduation from
Western Reserve University Law
School in 1906, Mr. Bernon was
elected when he was only 22 to
the Cleveland City Council. In
1910, he was appointed Assist-
ant City Solicitor, and in 1913
was elected to the Ohio State
Senate.
Gov. James M. Cox appointed
Mr. Bernon to the municipal
bench in 1914, and in 1918-1919
he served as Assistant Attorney
General for Ohio. From 1920-
1924 he served on the Common
Pleas bench, resigning to resume
private practice.
His interest in Jewish affairs
has led him to the vice-presi-
dency of the Jewish Community
Federation; chairman, Joint
Distribution Committee's Na-
tional Council, a post he has
held since 1947; national vice-
chairman of the United Jewish
Appeal; vice-president of Mount
Sinai Hospital, and president of
East Central Region, Council of
Jewish Federations and Welfare
Funds.
Mr. Bernon leaves his wife,
Minnie, and two sons, Howard.

Hadassah Teen-Agers
Open to High School Girls

The Hadassah Teen-Agers, a
new youth group of 14 to 16
year-old girls has been formed.
The group will meet at 2' p.m.,
Sunday, in the home of Marilyn
Lux, 17419 Pennington, when a
fashion show will be presented.
Pro tem officers chosen to
head the group are Marsha Ber-
man, president; Diane Arkin,
secretary; Marilyn Lux, treasur-
er; and Rena Schwartz, TU. 3-

visors are Mesdames Nathan
Shur, Joseph Tillinger and
Harry Nyman.
All girls of high school age
are invited to attend the meet-
ing, and are eligible for mem-
