Mr. and Mrs. Allan Silvers and daughter, Joanne, of Dexter
Blvd., will leave on Monday for New York from where they will
sail aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth for England and France.
Miriam Sheila Brody, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brody,
of Blackstone Ave., Oak Park, was recently entertained by her
parents at a sweet sixteen party in the Sheraton Cadillac Hotel.
Celebrating the occasion were Miss Brody's friends, grandmother
and aunts.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sable, of the Wilshire Apartment Hotel,
sailed recently aboard the SS United States for an extended tour
of Europe and Israel.
A dinner-dance and reception was given last Sunday, at
Holiday Manor, honoring the Bar Mitzvah of Dennis Weber, son..
of Dr. and Mrs. Harry Weber, of Pennington Dr. The ceremony
was observed a day earlier at Adas Shalom Synagogue.
Mr. and Mrs. David W. Arfa, of Pasadena Ave., have recently
returned from a vacation of several weeks in Miami Beach, Fla.
Miss Judy Ann Jacobs, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Clarence B.
Jacobs, is spending her spring vacation from the University of
Michigan in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Stein, of Edison Ave., will be honored
on their 25th wedding anniversary with a dinner and party to be
given Wednesday, at Kormendy's by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Taub, of
Hubbel Ave., and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Raphael, of Snowden Ave.
Helping to celebrate the occasion will be the Stein's children, Mr.
and Mrs. Dick Stein and Judy, Mrs. Stein's mother, Mrs. Ann Berg-
man, and Mr. Stein's mother, Mrs. Ida Stein.
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Liberman, of Monterey Ave., left last
week for New York from where they flew to Europe. Points they
will visit on their two-month stay include England, Rome, Paris
and Israel.
Corp. Jerry Gach has concluded his tour of duty with the U.S.
Marine Corps, and with his wife, the former Sue Rosenthal, will
return soon to Detroit where they will reside with his brother,
Herman C. Gach, of Woodingham Dr. Corp. Gach, who played
with Mickey and Sammy Woolf and Phil Brestoff before entering
service, was a member of the famous Marine dance band at Camp
Pendleton, Calif., and was featured soloist on both trumpet and
guitar. The dance band's music was heard in Detroit weekly

Plan Special Events for UHS Graduates

A series of events have been
planned by the United Hebrew
Schools in honor of the June
graduating classes, the first of
which will be a bruncheon at 11
a.m., Sunday, in the Rose Sittig
Cohen Bldg.
Plans for graduation exercises
will be revealed, and graduates
will be acquainted with the high
school curriculum and encour-
aged to continue their Jewish
education.
"The Tercentenary of Jewish
Life in America" will be the
theme of the graduation, and
will be developed in a special
course, "The Contribution of

In a ceremony March 29, at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, Winnipeg,
Manitoba, Canada, Mona Har-
riette Axelrod, daughter of Mrs.
Powell Axelrod and Mr. Maurice
Axelrod, of Detroit, was united
in marriage to Albert Basil Gins-
berg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Har-
old Ginsberg, of Vancouver,
British Columbia, Rabbi Milton
Aaron officiated.
The bride's gown was of white
Italian silk taffeta and featured
an Alencon lace bertha. Her
three tiered veil of illusion fell
from a cap of matching lace.
Her flowers were white orchids
and stephanotis.
Mrs. Marvin Stark was mat-
ron of honor ,and Miss Tannis
Powell was a bridesmaid. Samuel
Belzberg served the bridegroom
as best man, and ushers were
Paul Morton, Marvin Stark,
David and Alvin Wire.
Following dinner at the neigh-
boring Glendale Country Club,
the couple left for a honeymoon
in Miami Beach, Fla. On their
return, they will reside in Win-
nipeg.
