HARRY KIFFERSTEIN picked
out a "lucky Sunday" to take
son, Warren, to recent Detroit
Sports and Travel Show spon-
sored by The Detroit News, at
the State Fair . • . Trips were
being given away daily by travel
media,. so Harry tried his hand
at one of the booths by filling
out a card answering five trick
questions and, in 25 words, tell-
ing what his favorite booth was
and why .. . He picked Eastern
Airlines, told about it, and went
on from there . . thinking
nothing more of it • . But try
and keep Harry from entering
a contest now! The next morn-
ing, his wife, Bertha, received a
phone call from the manager of
Eastern Airlines, telling her that
Harry had won the two-person
12-day trip, which was being
given away that day by Eastern
. .. She took it as a joke being
played by one of his friends
and casually mentioned it later
to Harry . . . Just to make sure,
he called The Detroit News and
learned it was far from a, gag
. • he had actually won . .
Harry and Bertha have from
now until November to take the
12-day all-expense paid trip .. .
which includes two days at the
Waldorf-Astoria in New York,
five days at the Saxony in Mi-
ami Beach, and five days at the
Carib-Hilton in Puerto Rico.

HARRY KATZ, past president
of Brandeis Lodge., selling tick-
ets to the recent Bnai Brith
fund-raising affair at Masonic
Temple, sold one to the factory
plant manager at the Aircraft
Plant of Briggs Mfg. Co., where
Harry is a supervisor, and was
asked what Bnai Brith was .. .
After telling him, Harry learned
that a Negro worker in the plant
was wearing a Bnai Brith shirt
. . . and asked the manager to
point the man out to him . .
_ He asked the fellow where he
had gotten it and was told that
it was an old bowling shirt
given to his wife by a BB bowler
• . . . "Fine," said Harry, "start
selling some tickets to our af-
fair." . . . The Negro readily
complied . , three books to be
exact.
