theme of an afternoon institute
to be held at 1 p.m., March 21,
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek, spon-
sored by the Jewish Social Ser-
vice Bureau, Women's Division,
and Health and Welfare Divi-
sion of the Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration, Detroit Council of Bnai
Brith, and Bellefaire.
Mrs. Theodore Bargman, JSS
president, invites all who are
interested to attend. Dr. Myer
Teitelbaum, Dr. Huldah Fine
and Mrs. Samuel Aaron will pre-
side at workshops. Casework
presentations, illustrating the
problems of children and how
they are cared for, will be made
by Mrs. Esther Levitsky, Mrs.
Arlene Burns, Miss Mary Ger-
stein and G e or g e Kirshner,
members of the JSSB staff. Dr.
Fritz Mayer of Bellefaire Home
in Cleveland and Harold Silver
will also participate , in the ses-
sions.
Foster parents who have been
with the JSSB for over 15 years
will be honored. Mr. and Mrs.
Lester B a s k i n, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Allen, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Harris and Mr. and Mrs.
Nathan Kaufman are the foster
parents who will be presented
citations by Rabbi Morris Adler.
The general session will be
addressed by a member of the
Juvenile Court on "Progress and
Problems in Child Care."
A social hour will conclude
the meeting. Serving on the
committee are Mesdames Lewis
Daniels, Julius Meskin, Law-
rence Cantow, Herman August,
Harry L. Jones, Samuel Aaron,
Cele Weinberg, Dr. Huldah Fine,
Dr. Myer Teitelbaum, Melvin
Weiss and Ben Mandelkorn.

Thanks to volunteer work by
Mrs. Jack Bean, immigrants ar-
riving in Detroit find assimila-
tion. to their new environment
easier. Mrs. Bean teaches English
classes for new Americans at the
12th Street Jewish Center and
often takes her students on tours
of the city's cultural institutions.
The native Detroiter is also a
division chairman for the Allied
Jewish Campaign, a member of
Hadassah and Sisterhood of
Temple Israel, where she con-
ducts a Sunday School class.
In recognition of her com-
munity work, the Torch Drive
agencies will present Mrs. Bean
with a Red Feather Pin on Bud
Lanker's "Heart of Detroit"
show, at 5 p.m., Saturday.

Dr. Morton Sobel Addresses
Ahavas Achim Joint Meeting

Dr. Morton J. Sobel will ad-
dress a joint meeting of the
Ahavas Achim Sisterhood and
Men's Club, 8:30 p.m., Monday,
in the synagogue.
The talk by Dr. Sobel, who is
regional director of Bnai Brith's
Anti-Defamation League, will be
followed by a fantasy, "Sister-
hood Gaities," and a social hour.

MRS. MEYER GREENBERG

In a recent double ring cere-
mony at Cong. Beth Moses,
Marilyn Gloria Farber, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Farber,
of Clements Ave., was united in
marriage to Meyer Greenberg,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Greenberg of Decatur, Ill.. Rabbi
Jacob Segal and Cantor Hyman
Adler officiated.
The bride wore a ballerina
gown of lace over satin. Her
white Bible was adorned with
white orchids and stephanotis,
and she wore a bonnet style
crown of matching lace.
Attending the bride as matron
of honor was Mrs. Anne Per-
nick, while Mrs. Shirley Silver
served as bridesmaid. Max
Greenberg was his brother's
best man, with Martin Farber
as junior usher and Clement
Farber as usher.
Out of town guests included
the bridegroom's sister, Lois
Greenberg, and sister-in-law,
Harriet Greenberg, from Deca-
tur and Mrs. Rosetta Picker.

Following a honeymoon in
Chicago, the couple presently
resides on Waverly Ave.

ute the state of Israel on its
sixth anniversary by holding an
Independence Day Ball on May
8. The simultaneous presenta-
tion of these dances is under
the auspices of the local dis-
tricts of the Zionist Organiza-
tion of America.

MAURICE ROSENFELD, pres-
ident of Equitable Paper Bag
Co., this week announced the
production of the world's biggest
paper bag, which measures 14
feet in height and can hold a
half ton of grapefruit or a six
month's supply of groceries for
an average family. Rosenfeld is
a member of a number of civic
and community organizationS,
notably the Federation of Jew-
ish Philanthropies and Brooklyn
Hebrew Orphan Asylum. The
new bag, suitable for a number
of commercial products, is being
called the Paul Bunyan bag.
