To Dr. Hernian Foon

The 15th anniversary of Workmen's Circle Branch 460, first
English-speaking branch in Detroit, area, will be celebrated at a
dinner dance at Huck's Redford Inn, Saturday evening. Highpoint
of the evening will be the award of gold pins to the man and
woman deemed to have made the most outstanding contribution
to the branch during its long period of service to the community
and to the ideals of world brotherhood, exemplified in the W.C.
Mr. Louis Shapiro will return shortly to this city after vaca-
tioning in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Howard, of Ohio Ave., are presently vaca-
tioning at Double U Ranch, Tucson, Ariz., after which they will
be guests of the Joseph Scults, of Phoenix. The Howards will
spend the balance of the winter at the Racquet Club, Palm
Springs, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. David L. Lowenstein and son, Leonard, are now
residing in their new home at 3521 W. Outer Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Simon, of Appoline Ave., celebrated their
silver wedding anniversary with a family dinner recently at Kor-
mendy's. Attending were the Harry Franks, Nathan Marblestone,
Gerald Steinbergs, Mrs. Etta Parks, Mrs. Anne Marblestone, Mrs.
Roslyn Block and Frederic Marblestone.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kaylan, of Tuxedo Ave., were recent vis-
itors at Oakton Manor Resort, Lake Pewaukee, Wis.
Attending a sweet sixteen party given for Joni Handleman on
Feb. 27, in the Hotel Statler Terrace Room were Mickey Hill, Cathy
Petros, Vivian Klein, Bebe Rosenzweig, Beverly Last, Marilyn
Brenner, Barbara Heavenrich, Jeanne Mackey, Barbara Pines,
Judy Copley, Sybil Golden, Iris Erlich, Shirley Goldstein, Ruth-ann
Radway, Sandie Weisman, Rose-Ellen Cohen, Marcia Miller, Bar-
bara Shewach, Mitzi Kent, Barbara Margolis, Barbara Wilner, Jo-
Lynne Abrahams, Renee Goldstein, Betsy Rose, Brenda Fried,
Joyce Joseph and Florence Kobaker.
Dr. Robert P. Natelson, recently returned from Korea, his 'wife
and daughter are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Lastar,
of Sturtevant Ave., prior to a trip to California where the Natel-
sons will take up permanent residence.
Miss Francine Ruzumna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan
Ruzumna, of 3202 W. Grand, will celebrate her sixteenth birthday
with a luncheon for 30 gUests on Saturday, in the Town Pump.
In the evening a sweet sixteen _party will be held in her home, at
which her escort will be Richard Larky.
Terry Denise Bernstein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen
Bernstein, of Warrington Dr., recently celebrated her sweet sixteen
birthday with a luncheon in the Hotel Statler. Guests were her
aunt, Mrs. Jack Wolfe, of Des Moines, Ia., Maxine Bernstein, Mes-
dames Fred Efronson, Eddie Singer, Sidney Gorman, Morris Klein,
Sam Capp, Charles Capp, Harry Citrin, Sol Rosenberg, Harley
Citrin, Joseph Hootner, Arville Yancher, Harold Klein, Irving
Ritten, Sydney Silverman, Al Fagenson, Morrey Fried, Sidney
Weinberg, Michael Engleman, Larry Hords and Misses Nina Rollins,
Cindy Grand. Paula Levine, Brenda Abramson, Shane Spanier,
Maida Granoff, Betty Reid, Sherry Kotzer and Carol Baer.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Harris, of Richton Ave., have left for a
month's stay in Miami Beach, Fla., and will also visit Havana,
Cuba.
Mr. Harry Yanich, a Detroit resident for 48 years, will sail for
Israel on March 29 aboard the SS Jerusalem. Mr. Yanich has just
returned here after visiting his children, Rabbi and Mrs. Walter
11. Plaut, and grandchildren, in Cedar Rapids, Ia. He will be
joined in Israel later this year by Mrs. Yanich, who is currently
in Miami, Fla.,

To Wed in June

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard B. Gold-
man, of Elmhurst Ave., an-

Robert J. Kraus, son of Mrs.
Matilda Kraus, of Clements
Ave., and the late Mr. Eugene
Kraus. A June wedding is

Young Israel Organizations
Planning Purim Carnival
Women's League for Young
Israel, together with the Young
Adult g r ou p, will sponsor a
Purim carnival on March 20, in
the Young Israel Center. Mrs.
Hillel Abrams, chairman, is as-
sisted by Mesdames B. Gross-
man and David Appelbaum, co-
chairman, David Novetsky and
Morris Sugar.
Tommy Koenigsberg is in
charge of the Young Adult par-
ticipation, which will include
setting up booths and manning
them. A contest for the best
Purim decorations is currently
being conducted at Young Is-
rael.

The Greater Detroit Bnai
Brith Men's and Women's Coun-
cils will hold a blood bank rally
Thursday, March 11, at Adas
Shalom Synagogue.
The Red Cross will have two
Mobile Units on hand from 6
p.m. to 12 midnight, assuring a
minimum of waiting.
Members are urged to make a
special effort to turn out, as the
demands on the blood bank in
the last three months have been
abnormally high. The demand
for gamma globulin makes it
imperative that there be a re-
serve on hand.

The combined children's
choir of the United Hebrew
Schools will participate in the
second annual Jewish Music
Festival, in honor of Jewish Mu-
sic Month, to be presented by
the Schools at 3 p.m., Sunday,
in Beth Aaron Synagogue.
The children will present the
cantata, "The Seven Golden
Buttons." Also featured on this
program will be Ted Wolf, clari-
netist; Israel Hochberg, who will
play the Challil; and the Jew-
ish Community Center Dance
Group. A Parent-Teachers chor-
al ensemble also will be heard.
The public is invited to at-
