breakfast last Sunday with

Soldiers' Welfare Committee,
pledged to inrease their efforts
for the current Histadrut drive.
Mr. Baratz spoke in - glowing
terms of Israel's army and how
it was like no other army on the

Baratz Tells of
Mr S. FDR's Gift
In his address here on Sun-
day, Yosef Baratz related the
episode of Mrs. Franklin D.
Roosevelt's visit to the colony
he founded — Deganiah. She
was deeply impressed, asked
for accommodations to spend
an extra evening there and
was especially moved by the
ability of the Israel colony to
establish the Beth Gordon
Museum at Deganiah. Upon
her return to this country,
Mrs. Roosevelt sent a person-
al $500 check for the Beth
Gordon Museum. Upon his
arrival in this country, Mr.

guest at dinner at her New
York apartment.
cation in the country, made
possible by the whole-hearted
cooperation of all elements with-
in the state,public and non-
public, political and non-politi-
cal.
"I have been amazed," said
Mr. Baratz, "to hear individuals
in the United States express
dissatisfaction with Histadrut.
Are they not aware that without
Histadrut there never would
have been a State? That with-
out Histadrut today. life would
be a veritable nightmare? That
above all else. Histadrut is the
einbodiment of the spirit of
Halutziut and busily enga g ed in
settling our border areas and
Uninhabited regions?
Though barely past the half-
way point of the campaign. the
assembly adopted a resolution
which calls on every convasser
to complete his assignment
within the next two-week period.

Vindicates Or. Auerbach of Fraud
MUNICH, (JTA - ) — Criminal
charges against the late Dr.
Philip Auerbach, postwar leader
of German Jewry, are by impli-
cation repudiated in a report
just issued by the Bavarian leg-
islature's "Aue cbach Investigat-
ing Committee" after 31 public
hearings and a probe lasting al-
most three years.
The committee was set up aft-
er Dr. Auerbach's arrest, to ex-
amine the conduct of civil serv-
ants and cabinet members
whose functions included super-
vision of the State Agency for
Restitution and Indemnification,
which was headed by Dr. Auer-
bach for more than four years.
No neglect or dereliction of
duty on the part of these offi-
cials can be shown, •according
to the 16-page final report of
the inquiry group.
The allegations against Dr.
Auerbach himself, which drove
him to suicide after he had been
sentenced by a court composed
of Nazi judges, were not within
the direct province of the com-
mittee.
The formation of the commit-
tee was proposed by Auerbach's
foes, and its members were any-
thing but friendly towards him.

Over 35,000 Detroiters attended the
Opening of AMERICAN SAVINGS
new branch, Livernois at West 7 Mile
last week. To the "gloom and doom"
prophets, spreading the doctrine of
recession and depression, the Officers
and Directors of AMERICAN SAV-
INGS proudly announce that 3,000
new savings accounts were opened
during the 4-day period, adding up to
a total of $1,000,000 invested! Local
financial authorities believe this to be
an all time record unsurpassed by any
comparable savings institution in the
country. Here's proof that Detroit is
still "DYNAMIC DETROIT" . ,
strong, sound . . . PROSPEROUS!
