At the beginning of the term,
club elections usually take the
spotlight, but not in this case.
The three .language clubs
((French, Spanish and Latin)
already have a joint meeting
with Redford on the fire. The
presidents of these clubs have
met and are planning various
forms of entertainment.
Of course, club elections are
quite important. The new offi-
cers of the French Club are Al
Engelman, president; Edith Su-
pac, veep; Jane Rosenzweig,
secretary; and Joyce Brown,
treasurer.
Going along with good sports-
manship we have Evie Siporin,
president of the Sportsmanship
Club, with Moishe Cohn, veep;
Barbara Bandler, secretary; and
Ronald Hirsch, treasurer. The
club is planning to hold a stu-
dent exchange with Cody High.
The GAA is again selling Cen-
tral shirts. All girls who wish
to buy one contact Judy Pan-
ush, Brenda Kaufman or Winnie
Ledger.
Central took to TV last week,
as four 'Lites opposed a panel
of four Redfordites on the De-
troit News "Quiz 'em on the
Air." Although we bowed to
Redford by the close score of
475 to 450, our panel, besides
having a thrilling experience,
brought back a Columbia Ency-
clopedia for their efforts. Par-
ticipants were Frances Switzky,
Jerry Kazdan, Stuart Pernick
and Judy Alzofon. Questions
asked on tile program were
based on material from the De-
troit News, which the panel
read for eight days.
Leon Dater and Jerry Green-
baum also hit the TV waves
when they appeared on "Head-
line Hunters." Jerry acted as
scorekeeper and Leon was the
mystery voice who provided
clues to the identity of the his-
torical figure, Ulysses.
ROSNER FAMILY CLUB will
Abba Freedman and Leon
meet on Sunday at the home of Dater participated in "School
Mrs. Lena Rosner, 4282 Waverly. Spotlight," a program honoring
Abe Lincoln, presented over sta-
tion WDT.R.
The girls' swimming team
elected its new captains for the
season, Barbara Bandler and
Nancy White. Here's hoping
they can lead their team to
many more victories.

Under the chairmanship of
Harvey Weiss, Mumford's fresh-
men were welcomed into the fold
at a freshman mixer, at which
talks were given by club repre-
sentatives to acquaint each
freshman with various aspects
of their work.
At the first meeting of the
Future Nurses Club, officers
elected were Caroline Embury,
president; Phyllis Manheimer,
veep; Beverly Siegel, secretary;
and Lois Paskel, treasurer. Trips
to hospitals and orphanages,
along with caring for Mumford's
clinic patients are on the term's
agenda.
Heading the Latin Club will be
Iris Erlich and Dale Schlafer,
co-presidents; Sandy Woodson,
secretary; Janice Forbes, treas-
urer; and Elizabeth Berkaw, his-
torian.
Doing a wonderful job steering
senior activities are David Price,
president; Ellen Jones, secre-
tary; Bonnie Clark, Gary Ta-
back, Larry Saidman, Nancy
Smith, Polly Palen, Bill Myers,
Bruce Seigan, Marshall Gold-
man and Toby Gittleman.
Newly-elected officers of the
Drama Club are Johnny Frank-
lin, president; Ina Silberman,
veep; LaVonne Waller and Judy
Botuck, secretarie s; Merwin
Goldsmith, treasurer; David
Price and Dale Schlafer, execu-
tive members.
In the Broadcasters Club, Jer-
ry Otzman will be president;
Cathy Clark, veep; Carol Pur-
don, secretary; Merwin Gold-
smith, treasurer; Shirley Fealk
and Johnny Franklin, executive
members.
Do you like sports? Nice
weather is right around the cor-
ner, and if tennis is your forte,
tryouts for the school team be-
gin on Monday.
