JSSB to Adopt Fee Charging Plan

A plan of charging fees for
services given by the Jewish
Social Service Bureau will be
introduced on Monday, it was
announced by Mrs. Theodore

Permitting your clients to keep in
during business

Bargman, president of the Bu-
reau.
"The plan is designed," Mrs.
Bargman stated, "to dignify the
service, help the client to use
services most effectively and at-
tract broader segments of the
population who would hesitate
to use free service. The income
to be derived is a minor consid-
eration, since fees will pay for
only a fraction of the cost."
Services of the agency will
continue to be available to any-
one, regardless of economic stat-
us, and no charge will be made
to these unable to pay. The
Bureau's services include help to
people with their personal and
family problems.
The plan was approved by the
JSSB board following months of
study by a joint board and staff
committee, headed by Mrs. Har-
ry L. Jones. The scale of fees
is graduated, in accordance with
the Income and size of the fam-
ily.
Fee charging is now practiced
in most family and children's
agencies in the country, Mrs.
Bargman pointed out. Its in-
troduction was strongly recom-
mended by a recent survey of
social agencies, conducted by the
United Community Services, of
which JSSB is a member.
