Camp Farband Names
Its Head Counselor
Bertrand Sandweiss has been
named Head Counselor of Camp
Farband by Leonard Baruch,
director.
Mr. Sandweiss, a University
of Michigan graduate, is a
teacher in the Detroit Public
Schools. He is a graduate of
the United Hebrew Schools and
a staff member of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. He has had in-
tensive specialized training at
the Neuro Psychiatric Institute
at the University of Michigan.

The bride wore a gown of
Chantilly lace, featured by a
portrait neckline of candlelight
satin. Her white Bible was
adorned with white orchids and
stephanotis, and she wore a
jewel-studded crown to match
the gown.
Attending her sister as matron
of honor was Delores Fondberg,
while Irene Dresser served as
maid of honor and Carol Zeiger
was bridesmaid. Robert Horo-
witz was his brother's best man.

Eisenhower to Open
Drive for Red Cross
President Eisenhower will offi-
cially open the 1954 Red Cross
campaign Sunday evening, with
an address from the White
House over major TV and radio
networks. He will be introduced
by E. Roland Harriman, chair-
man of the American National
Red Cross, which seeks to raise
$85,000,000 and enroll 30,000,000
new adult members during the
month of March.
Saturday and Sunday have
been designated Red Cross Sab-
bath and Sunday. On those days
the Red , Cross message will be
read from pulpits all over the
land.
Those who gave to Red Cross
at their place of employment in
the Torch Drive will not be sol-
icited again.

Lectures at Sinai
On Pre-Natal Care
.
A series of lectures to acquaint
expectant mothers with import-
ant aspects of the pre-natal
period will be presented by Sinai
Hospital, Dr. Julien Priver, hos-
pital director, announced.
Planned by the hospital's
nursing department, headed by
Ruth B. Edelson, director of
nurses, and the obstetricians
committee, the first of a series
of six lectures will be held at
2 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, in
the third floor class room at the
hospital. Subsequent classes
will be held weekly thereafter.
Two of the sessions will be held
at 8 p.m. so that prospective
fathers may also attend.
The program will be continued
throughout the year, the series
to be repeated at the end of
each six week period.
The first topic, "The • Hygiene
of Pregnancy," will be discussed
by Mrs. Irene M. Howes, ob-
stetrical supervisor, with the
assistance of staff obstetricians.
The remainder of the classes will
deal with "The Growth and De-
velopment of the Baby," "The
Emotional Aspects of Pregnan-
cy," "Planning for the Baby,"
"What to Expect in the Hospital,"
and "Characteristics and Care of
the New Baby."
There is no charge for admis-
sion.
Sinai is presenting the se-
ries as a community health serv-
ice. Classes in infant care for
mothers while they are patients
in the hospital also are offered.
Since the hospital's obstetrical
department opened in April of
last year, approximately 1,000
babies were born there.
