Hopes for making this years
Centralite, the school yearbook,
the biggest and best ever, were
expressed by Karen
newly appointed editor-in-chief.
Assisting her as activities edit-
ors are Louise Glattstein and
Eleanore Rudnor, with Ruthie
Rubin, Naomi Sherman and
Ellen Steinberg as reporters.
Mel Lester will edit the sports
section, with Natalie Rosengard,
Friedelle Schrier and Art Un-
gerleider as reporters. Janie
Rosenzweig and Evie Siporin
. are co-editors of the graduation
section, with assistants, Ruth
Smith, Roz Mayer and Judy
Rosenblum. Head of art direc-
tion is Charlotte Mechler, with
Sharon Rosenthal assisting.
The PA reporters, who broad-
cast news of Centralite activi-
ties each week, are Golda Rob-
iner, Barry Levine, and Judy Al-
sofon.
The Democratic Human Rela-
tions Club, which is a junior
branch of the Detroit Round
Table, attended a convention
at Cass Tech, which featured
Jackie Robinson speaking on
prejudice. Representing Central
were Carole Mitnick, Ellen
Averbuch and Ronnie Hersh.
Over-all chairman of the affair
Was Mary Starman of Mumford.
Leon Dater and Jerry Green-
baum recently appeared on
"Honor the Name, a WDTR pro-
duction.
Making up the businQss staff
of the Central Student are Edna
Zucker, ad manager; Judy
Rosenblum and Bev Steinberg,
circulation manager; and Nor-
man Cohn, photographer.
New reporters on the Student
are Fred Bassoff, Rae Jean
Blatnikoff, Elaine Braverman,
Rena Shrodeck, Helen Amhow-
itz, Janet Levenson, Anita Sher,
Noel Lawson and Art Levine.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kolko,
of 1751 Lee Place; celebrated
their golden wedding anniver-
sary on Feb. 14, at the 12th St.
Council Branch of the Jewish
Center. They re-enacted their
wedding of 50 years ago before
their six children, 20 grand-
children, and about 150 friends.
A resident of Detroit since
1923, Mr. Kolko is chairman of
the Jewish Culture Club of the
12th St. Branch.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Kolko are
70 years old. Their six children
who arranged the party are:
Mrs. Telia Olisson, Mrs. Edith
Ledger, Mrs. Louise Newman,
and sons, Ben, Irving and Jack.
The Kolkos' were married in
Grajewo, Poland, where they
were brought up, on Feb. 11,
1904.

David Price has been elected
chairman of the Michigan Teen-
Age Driver Safety Conference,
which will be held Feb. 26 and
27, at Michigan State College.
The group was formed to pro-
mote better teen-age drivers.
Tryouts for the school play
were 'held last week, and Miss
Patterson, dramatics instructor,
will announce the actors-to-be
next week.
The Goode AZA Chapter re-
cently held its installation cere-
monies at Elmwood Casino. Of-
ficers elected are Jack Thav,
president; David Lewis, vice-
president; Gary Berger, secre-
tary; Larry Edelheit, treasurer;
Jerry Nathanson, chaplain; and
Jerry Rosenthal, sgt.-at-arms.
The Cupid's Ball, being given
by Bnai Brith Girls, will be
held on Saturday night, at Cong.
Bnai Moshe.
Before the early spring thaw
this week, Brenda Barak and
Marilyn Fisher gave a skating
party at Rouge Park. Among
the guests were Lois Greenberg,
Bev Stein, Barbara Bockoff,
Stewart Gottlieb, - Alfred Lip-
shaw, Jerry Gold, Louis Sover-
insky, Don Purther, Mervin
Goldsmith and Bruce Nusbaum.

women have been meeting on
Thursday evenings since Octo-
ber in the -newly - decorated
Young Adult LoUnge of the
Woodward Jewish Center for a.
program of fun and relaxation.
Programs arranged by the
group include many facets, in-
cluding a tobogganing - party on
Sunday, at a nearby slope. For

cil's mid-winter delegate As-
sembly to be held at the Davi-
son Jewish Center Thursday, will
feature an address by Col. Basil
Herman, who for the past 18
months served as Israeli Mili-
tary Governor of the Negev.
Current Council activities will
be reported upon.
A committee of hostesses from
Bnai David Congregation, who
will serve refreshments at the
conclusion of the meeting, is
