Members of Temple Israel are
inviting their non-Jewish friends
to temple's annual Brotherhood
Sabbath service at 8:30 p.m.,
today. Rabbi Leon Fram will in-
troduce the Tercentenary cele-
bration of the arrival of the
first Jews in the United States
in his sermon, "The Jews Who
Arrived on the Mayflower."
Karl Haas, music director of
Temple Israel, and Cantor Rob-
ert S. Tulman have arranged a
special musical program and
hymns on a Brotherhood theme.
The Bar Mitzvah of Stuart
Hanley Rosenthal will be ob-
served on this occasion, and will
be followed by a social hour in
the youth center.

Adas Shalom Synagogue's
annual Men's Club Sabbath will
be observed at 8:30 p.m., today,
in the main sanctuary. Rabbi
Jacob E. Segal will officiate.
In place of the regular ser-
mon, a panel symposium will be
presented on the theme "Old
and New Horizons for American
Jewry," in honor of the national
observance of United Synagogue
Sabbath and the forthcoming
300th anniversary of. the Ameri-
can Jewish settlement.
Members of the Men's Club
will participate and deliver brief
talks. Cantor Nicholas Fenakel
will chant the - services, assisted
by the Youth Choir, and will
lead in community singing.

Bnai David to Open
Lecture Series Today

Cong. Bnai David announces
the opening of its Friday eve-
ning oneg shabbat and lecture
series, at 8:30 p.m., today, in the
synagogue, 14th and Elmhurst.
The series will continue 'for
four consecutive Friday eve-
nings. The first lecture, "The
Place of Ethics in Judaism," will
be delivered by Rabbi Hayim

two cultural events during the
week.

On Wednesday evening the
Center will observe Jewish Music
Month with a program fashion-
ed through the centuries, in the
main chapel of the Hillel Foun-
dation-Beth Israel Center.
Cantor Hyman J. Adler will
be the soloist, assisted by the
Bnai David Sisterhood Choir
and Mrs. Bella Goldberg, accom-
panist. A cantata, written by
Rabbi Julius Weinberg, of the
center, entitled . "If You Will It
. . ." will be presented.
Harry Goldstein, noted radio
actor, will be the narrator. Ole
Foersch, of Station WWJ, will
be organist.
On Feb. 26, 8:30 p.m. in the
•Center's main chapel, Beth Is-
rael and Hillel will hold a joint
service, at which Dr. Abraham
G. Duker, sociologist, historian
and lecturer, will speak on "The
American Scene and Jewish
Living."

be "The Emerging Pattern of
American Jewry."
The commemoration volume
planned will be in three parts,
and will be entitled "Landmarks
and Goals." The book will con-
tain Dr. Neuman's profound and
dignified observations of histori-
cal writings of the past, an
evaluation of Judaism and an
analysis of contemporary issues
dealing with Jewish learning in
the United States.
Included on Wednesday's pro-
gram with Dr. Neuman will be
Beth Aaron's spiritual leader,
Rabbi Benjamin H. Gorrelick,
and Cantor Judah Goldring.
Members of all congregational
men's clubs, and interested
members of the community are
invited to attend. Tickets will be
available at the door.
