peal, head the list of distin-
guished public figures who will
address the UJA's inaugural
conference in Miami Beach,
Fla., Feb. 19, 20 and 21, when
the appeal will launch its 1954
nation-wide campaign and its
16th successive annual drive in
behalf of Israel and Jewish vic-
tims of war and oppression.
Detroiters - win, will attend

Irving W. Blumberg, Joseph
Holtzman, Nathan Fishman
and Abe Kasle. Kasle is al-
ready in Miami Beach arrang-
ing preliminary affairs.

liam Fisher next Wednesday,
in the Martinique _Hotel in

Local Organizations Plan Events
In Celebration of Music Month

With Jewish Music Month

organizations have planned
musical programs in keeping
with the national annual event.
Scheduling events this week are
Temple Israel, Music Study Club,
Adas Shalom Synagogue and
Sholem Aleichem Institute.
Temple Israel will hold its
traditional musical sabbath
service at 8:30 p.m., today, in
the temple, when a special pro-
gram will be offered by Karl
Haas, music director.
Cantor Robert S. Tulman and
the Temple Israel Quartet will
be heard in special arrange-
ments of the works of contem-
porary American composers for
the synagogues. Rabbi Leon
Frain will speak on "The Song
of the Soul." The Bar Mitzvah

Jewish and Israeli music will
be highlighted at the Music
Study Club program at 8:30
p.m., Wednesday, in the Lecture
Hall of the Detroit Institute of
Arts.

are cooperating with the Wom-
en's Committee of Wayne
County Chapter, March of
Dimes, in sponsoring a polio
benefit at Detroit Historical
Museum, Woodward and Kirby,
at 1 p.m. on Monday.
George, W. Stark, City Histor-
ian, and Henry D. Brown, direc-
tor of the Museum, will conduct
the tour of the Museum. Miss
Margot Pearsall, Curator, will
then present her Style Show,
displaying gowns of Detroiters
of long ago which are now
prized possessions of the Mu-.

teacher of Detroit Conservatory
