MRS. SIDNEY J. KARBEL

A vice-president of Federa-
tion's Women's Division, Mrs.
Karbel is a member of Federa-
tion's health and welfare budget
and planning division, and a
board member of the Jewish
Community Center. -
She inaugurated "G-Day" in
Detroit (Great Day—for Giving),
calling together 2,000 volunteers
for a one-day solicitation that
has become an annual event.
Last year Mrs. Karbel served as
a vice-chairman of the cam-
paign.
This year, Mrs. Karbel will
have overall leadership for the
pre-campaign, special gifts and
general solicitation divisions. In
1953 the Women's Division rais-
ed more than $475,000.
Mrs. Karbel announced that
Mrs. Joseph H. Ehrlich and Mrs.
Henry Wineman have been
named honorary chairmen of
the Women's Division drive.
Serving as honorary vice-chair-
men are Mesdames Hyman C.
Broder, Abraham Cooper, Julian
Krolik, Abraham Srere, Joseph
M. Welt and Melville S. Welt,
Mrs. Harry L. Jackson is exec-
utive vice-chairman; Mrs. John
C. Hopp and Mrs. Lewis B. Dan-
iels, chairman and vice-chair-
man of the executive committee.
