After waiting for four years to
have our auditorium completed,
Mumfordites will have their pa-
tience rewarded with the pres-
entation of the senior play, "The
Royal Family." It will be given
Jan. 21 and 22. Teachers, stu-
dents, parents and friends are
welcome. The tickets are 50c
each.
Included in the cast are: Judy
Botuck, Lee Castleman, Per r y
Cohen, Nelson Farran, Shirley
-Fealk, John Franklin, Merwin
Goldsmith, Joel Gottlieb, Linda
Kurland, Herman Magidsohn,
Deane Meisner, Bill Meyers,
Polly Palen, David Price, Dale
Schlaefer, Bruce Seigan, Lor-
raine Small, Nancy Smith, Louis
Stern, Bluma Sussman and La-
Von Waller.
The people behind the scenes
are Sondra Miller and Ina Sil-
verman, the student directors,
Sandra Feldstein and Ruth
Katzman, prompters, and Dick
Gould, the stage manager.
The Junior Drama Club help-
ed the play greatly by selling
tickets for it.
Last week ground was broken
for the new addition. It will in-
clude shops, a large swimming
pool and the thing Mumfordites
have long been waiting for, the
gymnasium.
The graduating class chose its
colors to be navy and white.
Their class flower is the rose.
Approximately 400 students will
have the honor of being the first
class to graduate from our ele-
gant, modern auditorium.
The Senior Prom will be held
at the Veterans Memorial Jan.
29. There is an all out effort
to make it a huge success.

Center Offers First of
Music Month Concerts

"Great heights reached by
great men were not attained by
sudden flight," was chosen as
the motto for the graduating
class of January, 1954, also
chosen were the class colors—
blue and white. Preparations are
in full swing for the commence-
ment exercises which will be
held Wednesday, at McKenzie
High School.
Speaking at the exercises will
be Faith Greenbaum
Jerry
Bernstein, Sandra Lyness and
Miles Hurwitz. The speakers
have been reheasing for months,
but the exact theme of their
speeches is regarded as "top
secret."
Class Day, a day set aside to
honor all the graduates and
their parents, will be held Tues-
day at Central. Speaking here
will be Elissa Panush and Bob
Brent, class historians, and
Larry Sturman, class poet. En-
tertainment will be provided by
Sel Schwartzberg and Howard
Goldberg playing the trumpet
and Paul Kadish singing, ac-
companied by Marilyn Mutch-
nick. The highlight of the day
will be the presentation of the
spade, made by Carl Pfeifer to
Sherwin Shrierer, newly elected
12B president.
Seniors left last week for a
three day trip to Washington,
D. C. There they stayed at the
Willard Hotel and saw all the
sights. Mr. and Mrs. Arbough
were wonderful faculty chape-
rones.
Four 12B girls were chosen to
be honor guards at the gradua-
tion ceremonies. Their duties
are to escort the graduates in-
to the auditorium and out again.
Chosen were Barbara Bandler,
Carole Mitnick, Janie Rosen-
zweig and Marilou Frankila.
"Swing-in" is being held at
school today. This is the last time
that seniors will be recognized as
such. They donned caps and
gowns and paraded through the
halls during the first five hours
of school.
Those of us still in school
would like to wish those gradu-
ating the very best of luck!
