Denver Home Changes
Name; Local Group's
Luncheon on Jan. 25

Founded almost half-a-cen-
tury ago by pioneering Ameri-
can Jewry, the National Home
for Jewish Children at Denver
has officially changed its name
to the "Jewish National Home
for Asthmatic Children," it was
announced by • Mrs. Fannie E.
Lorber, president of the home.
This historic change, Mrs.
Lorber said, was made to "clear-
ly define The core of our pro-
gram which is the free, nation-
wide treatment of needy chil
dren suffering from chronic in-
tractable asthma."
For the past 13 years the Na-
tional Home has been a pioneer
in the care and treatment of
youngsters afflicted with asthma
and other allergic diseases. To-
day, it stands as the only chari-
table institution of its kind in
America.
Mrs. Oscar Grey of Pen-

nington Drive, president of
the Detroit League, announces
a luncheon meeting to be held
Jan. 25, 12:30 p.m., at the home
of Mrs. Samuel Schwartz,
18000 Muirland.

An army major's daughter,
Patricia Ann Ferris, whose
chronic asthma has permitted
her scarcely one night's sleep
since her birth seven years ago
in Japan, was flown by military
transport on a mercy mission
from Atlanta, Ga., to the Jewish
National Home for Asthmatic
Children at Denver.
Her father, Major John Fer-
ris, World War II hero and
Korean veteran, accompanied
his 7-year-old daughter on the
flight to the National Home,
where hope was offered that the
pretty, blonde youngster would
overcome the ravages of her
severe asthma.
