Mo'os Hitim Committee Starts '54
Activities to Aid Passover Needy

The Mo'as Hitim Committee of
Detroit is making plans for the
distribution of aid to needy Jew-
ish families and individuals in
Detroit for the coming Passover.
The committee has been in ex-
istence for over half a century.
This year it is once more under
the leadership of Harry Cohen.
The committee is composed of
representatives from a number
of leading relief societies and -
synagogues, as well as private
individuals. Money is raised by
contributions from individuals
and participating societies. The
clients served are certified by
the Department of Public Wel-
fare, Wayne County Bureau of
Social Aid, Jewish Social Serv-
ice Bureau and lay relief-giving
organizations. Grants, based on
size of family, are given in the
form of checks plus orders for
matzo products.
Last year close to 600 Jewish
families were assisted in Detroit
at a cost of about $10,000 and it
is expected that the load will be •
just as great this year. A plea
is made to every Jewish individ-
ual and organization to remem-
ber this important project.
The new officers and board
members for 1954 are:

orary chairman, Charles A.
