Now that everyone has re-
turned from winter vacation,
the grind of schoolwork and
studying will be brightened by
recalling a few parties out in
S. O. C.
Rose-Ellen Cohen gave a very
successful pajama party. The
girls attending were Jo-Anne
Simons, Marcia Miller, Joan
Kaatz, Joni Handleman, Judi
Copely and Judy Stutz. The fes-
tivities included dinner, late eve-
ning snacks and breakfast.
Everyone pitched in to prepare
the food.
Sheryl Hubar honored her
cousin, Linda Lewandorf, of
Cleveland, at a party on Decem-
ber 27th. Linda attends Kings-
wood School, and spends her
vacations with Sheryl. The guest
list - included: Carole Moore, Al
Orman, Sarah Weiner, Bob Lask,
Joan Kaatz, Bob Brown, Rose-
Ellen Cohen, Joel Weingarden,
Marcia Miller, Rudy Walden,
Beverly Last, Paul Lutz and
Jerry Cooper.

Youth will open new year Sun-
day School sessions with a
breakfast given by the Sister-
hood on Sunday morning at the
Hampton School. Following the
breakfast, Rabbi M. Robert
Syme will address the group

Like all good things, even va-
cations have to come to an end
and now all 'lites are faced with
those unavoidable . eighteenth
weeks, which will be given Mon-
day ,and Tuesday.
A happy memory for all 12A's
was the senior skate, held at
the Civic Center last week. The
affair, exclusively for seniors,
was not school sponsored, but
was held to create more class
unity before graduation.
Coach Donald Fitch has an-
nounced the winners of varsity
1 letters for this year's season.

Well, if you're in the 12th
grade you should have. Here is
all the information. To enter
this contest all a 12th grade stu-
dent has to do is write an essay,
in no more than 1,000 or less
than 500 words, on "The Privi-
leges and Duties of a Citizen,"
The winner hi the city competi-'
tion then enters competition for
national honors. City first prize
is a four year scholarship of $100
per year.
Paul Glassman 12A won a $25
savings bond for being school
winner in the Hearst History
Contest. The Central Student,
the school paper, has received
a first class honor rating award
in the 4th University of Minne-
sota Scholastic Press Association
competition.

Helen Sobell to Appeal
For Husband Here
A meeting here tonight, at
3119 Fenkell, will heap, a report
from Helen Sobell on her holi-
day visit in Alcatraz with her
husband, Morton Sobell, whose
appeal for a new trial is now
I before the U.S. Supreme Court.
The meeting is sponsored by
the Detroit Committee to Secure
Justice for Morton Sobell in the
Rosenberg Case.
Sobell, a young scientist who
was convicted with Ethel and
Julius Rosenberg on a charge
of conspiracy to commit espion-
age and sentenced to 30 years
in Alcatraz, claims innocence.
'The Juggler' to Be Presented as Offering of Hadassah Minyan
Mrs. Louis Redstone, Minyan
chairman of -the Detroit Chapter
of HadaSsah, announces that a
family affair at 8 Tuesday,
in the auditorium of the Detroit
Institute of Arts will highlight
the current Minyan . drive.
Featured at the program will
be the Kirk Douglas film "The
Juggler," the first full-length
Hollywood film about Israel. The
hero is Kirk Douglas, who es-
caped the Nazi concentration
camps and reaches Israel short-
ly after its independence has
been proclaimed.
Obsessed with fears, he cow-
ers from a policeman, who fol-
lows him to learn why he is
running away. Douglas typifies
the Jewish people in exile, suf-
fering under the curse of Le-
viticus: "You shall flee when
none pursues you."
