Born in Hungary, Rabbi Meis- els, his wife and five of their eight children escaped from the Nazis during World War II. Fol- lowing liberation, he was named chairman of t h e Rabbinical Council of Berlin's British Zone, and contributed much to the welfare of DPs. In 1946, Rabbi Meisels left for Montverensi, France where he established and was director of the Yeshivath Sheerit Yisroel.
