`Gift to a Yank' Drive
Sponsored by JWV

The City of Detroit Common
Council has designed today, Fri-
day, Dec. 18, as "Give to a Yank
Who Gave Tag Day." The pro-
gram, sponsored nationally by
Eddie Cantor, is co-sponsored
in this area by the Jewish War
Veterans.
Since 1946, when Cantor or-
iginated the "Give a Gift to a
Yank Who Gave" campaign; the
JWV has supported the program,
which is designed to remember
"to the heroic deeds of those
whose lives and limbs paid the
price of victory."
The JWV will on Christmas
Day distribute gifts to bedridden
veterans in hospitals through-
out the area, stated Abe Brick-
ner, Department chairman of the
Give a Gift to a Yank Who
Gave committee.
