The eighth annual institute
of the Women's Division, Jewish
Welfare Federation, will be pre-
sented Jan. 13, at Temple Beth
El, Mrs. Harry L. Jones, presi-
dent of the Women's Division,
announced this week.
The all-day institute, under
the leadership of Mrs. Arthur I.
Gould, chairman of the program
committee, will be divided into
morning and afternoon sessions.
The morning program, begin-
ning at 10 a.m., under the super-
vision of Mrs. Lewis Grossman,
will include an original pres-
entation and four workship ses-
sions. Lunch and afternoon pro-
gram featuring a guest speaker
will round out the day.
Proving that Detroit's Landsmanshaften Societies are not
restricted to men only, these members of the Women's Golden Rule
Aid Society are rallying their forces to help put the "Tribute to
the State of Israel" over the top. The group has already sold $3,000
in Israel bonds as admission to the Dec. 27 function at Beth Aaron

VIENNA, (JTA)—The Israel
Consulate here issued a state-
ment this week making it clear
that the Israel government
seeks no reparations from Aus-
tria. The statement was issued
in connection with the recent
speeth by Finance Minister
Reinhardt Kamitz in the Aus-
trian Parliament in which he re-
ferred to Israel's attitude to-
wards the claims presented to
the Austrian government by
World Jewish groups for dam-
ages suffered by Jews under the
Nazi regime in Austria.
The Israel Consulate state-
ment said: "The Foreign Minis-
ter -of Israel declared on Novem-

Miami's Monte Carlo
To Open This Wednesday
MIAMI BEACH, Fla.—With the
opening of another winter sea-
son along Miami Beach's famed
Gold Coast, there is an air of
excitement at the Monte Carlo
Hotel, 65th and Ocean, which
this year enters its fifth sea-
son.
Additions to the staff have
been made in every department
to insure the utmost in service.
The dining room, with wide
windows facing the ocean, has
been decorated in a new motif.
, The Club Casino, the hotel's
cocktail lounge and night club
is busy auditioning entertainers
for the official opening of the
„Monte Carlo on Wednesday.

The Ballet Theater will give
three performances in Detroit's
Masonic Auditorium, Jan. 9 and
10. C. W. Van Lopik, Masonic
manager, announces that two
ballets new to Detroit, "The
Capital of the World" and
"Combat," will be featured. The
cast, 100 strong, is headed by
Alicia Alonso, Igor Youskevich,
John Kriza and Melissa Hay-
