Israel's textile industry, which is being expanded with the as-
sistance of investment capital derived from the Israel Bond Iusse,
is well on the way toward meeting all domestic requirements for
clothing and other textile products, and is expected to become one
of Israel's most important export commodities,. Thus far, six textile
factories have' been financed with funds front the Israel Bond Is-
sue. Above we see a trained workman operating a weaving 'ma-
chine at the Lodzia factory at Holon, the largest of the six. With
continued aid from Israel bonds, Israel's plans in the textile field
call for the establishment of twenty new enterprises to be
equipped with modern machinery, including new cotton and worst-
ed spinning mills, a worsted weaving mill and weaving mills for .
medium, fine and heavy fabrics.

Advanced Study Institute
Proposed for Israel
NEW YORK, (JTA)-The es-
tablishment of an Institute of
Advanced Study at the Weiz-
mann Institute of Science at
Rehovoth, which would be con-
ducted along the lines of the•
Institute at Princeton, was given
as one of the main points in
a new program for the Institute,
outlined here by Meyer W. Weis-
gal, chairman of its executive
council, upon his return to New
York after a six-month visit to
"Israel.
Weisgal said that the proposed
Institute would provide broad-
ened facilities for talented young
men and women to obtain post-
graduate training in Israel in-
stead of being forced to go
abroad for specialized studies.
Creation of an applied science
group to take over and explore
the practical possibilities of re-
search projects which have ad-
-vanced to' the point of direct
utiliZation in Israel's economy
