Bnai With Adopts
$4,500,000 Budget

WASHINGTON, (JTA)-Bud-
gets totaling $4,500,000 ter Bnai
Brith activities in 1954 were
adopted by the board of gover-
nors of Bnai Brith at its closing
session here, president Philip M.
Klutznick announced.
Resolutions adopted by the
board included one calling upon
the U. S. Senate to ratify the
United Nations Genocide Con-
vention. It urged that informa-
tion about the Convention be
given the widest possible circu-
lation among the American peo-
ple althoUgh U. S. delegate Hen-
ry Cabot Lodge, Jr., recently
served notice that the United
States would not welcome "prop-
aganda" in the United States on
behalf of Senate ratification of
the Genocide pact.
Dr. William Haber, vice-chair-
man of the Hillel Commission,
reported that -about 60 per cent
of the Jewish students on col-
lege campuses where Hillel foun-
dations exist , have registered
with those foundations. Bernard
Roman, national membership
chairman, reported that the
drive for new members in 53
cities in the United States and
Canada, a drive which was be-
gun last month, was nearing its
goal of 46,000 men.
A highlight of the two : day ses-
sion was the report of the Bnai
Brith Israel Committee which
has returned from the Jewish
State. MOrris Alexander, chair-
man of the committee, told the
board of governors that the Bnai
Brith rehabilitation center for
Israel veterans at Tel Hashomir,
near Tel Aviv, will be complete-
ly equipped with electro-therapy,
hydrotherapy and occupational
therapy facilities within six
months. The committee also re-
ported that the Moledeth Bnai
Brith, a 'colony founded by the
organization in 1936, is today
considered one of the finest ag-
ricultural settlements in Israel.
