`Individuals Incor Orated' Is Theme
Of. Women's Council Annual Event

The Council will honor guests
and members at a luncheon to
be served at 12:30 p.m. Mrs.
Louis Landsberg is directing
plans for the luncheon, which
will precede the afternoon pro-
gram to start at 1:15 p.m.
Highlight of the day will be
the guest speaker, Dr. Harold
A. Basilius, who will be intro-
duced by Mrs. Major Siegel. Dr.
Basilius whose subject will be,
"How Human Is Right," is pro-
fessor of German and director
of humanities at Wayne Uni-
versity.
Mrs. Oscar M. Zemon is pro-
gram chairman.

day program, entitled, "Indivi-
duals Incorporated," to be held
at Temple Israel.
Over 200 invitations have been
sent out to presidents affiliated
with the Detroit Federation of
Women's Clubs, new council af-
filiates and the League of Jew
ish Women and its member
groups, stated Mrs. Daniel
Krouse, who will preside over
the day's activities.
The meeting, planned in ob-
servance of Human Rights Day,
will open at 10:15 a.m., with
program called, "Human
Rights." Discussion leader will
be Mrs. A. Joseph Seltzer.
Council's educational depart-
meht enfolds a round table dis-
cussion with Mrs. Herbert Eskin,
chairman of Contemporary
Jewish Affairs, and Mrs. Earl
Hordes, speaking on "Tradition
of Human Rights." Mrs. Ben-
jamin Paxton, international re-
lations chairman, will speak on
"HoW the UN Protects Human
Rights."
Guarding Human Rights in
Our Government" will be the
topic, of Mrs. Marvin Kahn, so-
cial legislation chairman, and
Mrs. Seymour Freedman, :men-
tal health chairman, will round
out the first half of the pro-
gram, discussing, "Respect, Dig-
nity and the Individual."
Community services c o n s t i-
tutes the second half of the
morning program. The theme
centers around "Guarding Hu-
man Rights in Our Community,"
and will include panelists Mrs.
Avery Gordon, whose topic, "The
Right to Recreation," will be
followed by Mrs. Harold Kauf-
man, speaking on "The Right to
Assistance in Rehabilitation,"

bined children's Hanukah party,
which will be held Sunday, in
the Memorial Home. The cast of
the Popular television show Wix-
ie's Wondeland will entertain,
and holiday refreshments and
gifts will be distributed, stated
Lillian Panzer, program chair-
man. The planning committee,
which expects 300 children to
attend, includes Ben Brown and
Wyn Landis, chairmen, assisted
by Charlotte Kutnick, Al Sugar,
Dorothy Goldstein, Herman Gay-
orin, Rose Weintrob, Ralph
Friedman and Esther Goldman.

AUXILIARY will entertain their
children at a Hanukah party on
Sunday, in the Memorial Home.
Mary Melody, of the WWJ-TV
Playschool program, will en-
tertain. Refreshments and tra-
ditional holiday gifts will be giv-
en to each child who attends,
stated Beatrice Knight, chair-
man, who is assisted by Lorraine
Sthl, Ty Tratner, Ann Brooks,
Betty Green and Mildred Bron-
stein.

length was held in place by a
coronation crown of rhinestones
and pearls, which matched the
illusion neckline of her gown.
She carried a spray of white or-
chids and streamers on a prayer
book.
Lila Rosen, sister of the bride-
groom, was maid of honor, and
Mrs. Jerry Baker, the bride's
aunt, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Leonard
Ziedman, Mrs. William Davis,
Mrs. Irving Rosen and Maxine
Schumer. Susan Wilner was
flower girl.
Harold Baker, the bride's
brother, was best man, and ush-
ers included Melvin Rosen and
Irving Rosen, brothers of the
bridegroom, William Davis and
Edward Ziedman.
Following dinner for 200
guests, the couple left on a three
week honeymoon in New York
City.
