Woods Jewish Center is cooper-
ating in an adult education pro-
gram, in which top instructors
will work with interested com-
munity residents in any area of

ing held on Saturday morning in
cooperation with the Oak Park
Synagogue. The service begins
at 9 a.m., each Saturday, at the

show, to be held Tan. 4, in Holi-

New Jerusalem Daily
JERUSALEM, (IIP ) —The New
Year was marked by the pub-
lication of a new Hebrew daily
"Zmanim," official organ of the
• Progressive Party.

evening with the traditional
lighting of the first candle com-
memorating the ancient victory
of the Jews over the Syrians.
Since the time thousands of
years ago when a triumphant
band of Jews re-entered Jeru-
salem after defeating the arm-
ies of the oppressor, we have
celebrated that occasion.
The holiday, also called the
Feast of Lights, was so named
because a supply of oil in the
Temple, which supposedly was
enough to last for one d4
miraculously lasted eight days
until a new shipment arrived.
In Detroit, the occasion will
be commemorated in our homes,
our synagogues and in our re-
ligious schools. Some of the or-
ganizations planning special pro-
grams are listed below:

Oak Park Synagogue
Hanukah services will be
held at 8 p.m., Tuesday in the
Tyler School, W. Lincoln and
Tyler Ayes. A special feature
