Yeshivah Groups Plan 'two-Pronged
Effort for, Beth. Yehudah School Annex

deavor.
Cornerstone ceremonies will
be timed to coincide with the
12th anniversary of the Yeshi-
vah at its. present site on Dex-
ter and Cortland on Feb. 7, and
construction will be completed
by the opening of the fall se-
mester in 1954.
Mothers Club Dean,
Mrs. Drapkin, Dies
The Jewish Center's Council
of Mothers Clubs lost one of its
most ardent and devoted work-
ers with the passing of Mrs. Ida
Drapkin on Nov. 16.
A founder of the Mothers
Clubs and an active worker for
33 years, Mrs. Drapkin had been
named Dean of the Mothers
Club Council, a signal honor,
since it was the first • such title
to be given anyhere in the
United States to a Mothers Club
worker.
Besides her work in Mothers
Club circles, Mrs. Drapkin ac-
tively supported the activities of
the Ladies Auxiliary of Chesed
shel Emes and the Yeshivath
Chachmey Lublin.
Services for Mrs. Drapkin, who
lived at 2256 Richton, were held
Tuesday, at Hebrew Memorial
Chapel. She leaves her husband,
Hyman; sons, Julius, of Los An-
geles, Calif., Jack and George;
daughters, Mrs. Samuel Wexler,
Mrs. Jack Seidman and Mrs.
William Levin; 10 grandchildren
and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Zelden,
of New Orleans, La.

'dinner and program of the Beth
Yehudah Schools, which is
scheduled for Nov. 29, in Latin
Quarter. Under the joint spon-
sorship of the Synagogue Coun-
cil and the Businessmen's Coun-
cil of the Schools, one of the
biggest programs ever under-
taken has been arranged.
Heading the list of entertain-
ers is native Detroit comedian,
Harvey Stone, whose stories have
been heard often in this coun-
try's night spots and over the
television airways.
Appearing with Stone will be
world renowned Cantor Moishe
Oysher, one of Jewry's most be-
loved personalities, and the fun-
nyman of the Yiddish theater,
Michael "Michelle" Rosenberg.
Dr. H. Raphael Gold will be fea-
tured speaker.
The second phase of Yeshivah
planning revolves around the
construction of a new building,
a major portion of the funds for

New Projects Planned by JNF Council; Tag Day Set for Sunday
A capacity audience filled the
hall at the Zionist House last
week to pay tribute to the mem-
ory of Israel's first Nassi (presi-
dent) , Dr. Chaim Weizmann.
The meeting, held under aus-
pices of the Jewish National
Fund, attended by representa-
tives of many organizations as
well as members of the JNF
Council, heard Mendel N. Fish-
er, executive director of the JNF
of America,: tell of his associa-
tions with the Nassi. Rabbi Ern-
est Greenfield chanted the El
Molei Rachamim. Irving W.
Schlussel, a past president of
the Council, chairman of . the
new committee on wills and be-
quests, presided.
After brief remarks by Wil-
liam Hordes, outgoing president
of the Jewish National Fund
Council, now chairman of the
board, and by David Silver, the
`Gullibility of Americans' Is
Topic of Speakers Club
Speakers Club, at its 9 p.m.
meeting Saturday, in the Davi-
son Jewish Center, will discuss
the topic "Gullibility of Ameri-
cans—Individually and Collec-
tively."
A special Thanksgiving Frolic
is planned for 8:30 p.m., Nov. 28,
in the Center. A program of
songs, games and refreshments
is planned.

nick, president of the Lands-
manshaften Council of Detroit,
chairman of the JNF landsman-
shaften committee, that one of
its major activities of local or-
ganization will be the place-
ment of JNF blue-white boxes
in Detroit homes.
Morris Lachover, chairman of
the committee on youth, told of
meetings now being held with
leaders of youth movements to
discuss ways in which youth
may participate in the JNF pro-
gram. A seminar is planned for
the early part of January.
Mrs. Julius Kraft, president of-
the 'Ladies Auxiliary, spoke on
the progress made by thekladies
in preparing for the donor event
to take place Jan. 27.
A call was issued for corn=
munity-wide. support of an-
nual tag day to be observed
this Sunday.
Ladies Auxiliary members
were hostesses at a social hour
after the meeting. Mrs. Nathan.
Rosin was in charge of arrange-
ments.
