A group of friends helped celebrate the 72nd birthday of Daniel
L. Tickton of 2923 Monterey on Nov. 2.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Malcolm Kahn, of Pontiac, Mich., have re-
turned from a motor trip to Miami Beach, Fla. En route, they
stopped at Pittsburgh, Washington, Shenandoah Caverns, Va., St.
Augustine and other points.
Mrs. Ben Fink, of 5440 Cass, has returned from an extended
trip to Israel and several European countries.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Hack have left on a motor trip back to
their home in Santa Monica after a stay of five weeks in Detroit.
While here, Mr. Hack attended the Michigan Annual Shoe Fair as
honorary life president of the Michigan Shoe Retailers Association.
The November issue of the French edition of Reader's Digest car-
ries a story about Mr. Hack, as did the March American and
Canadian English issues and the July Spanish and August Portu-
guese editions.
Dr. and Mrs. Leon A. Katzin, former Detroiters now residing
In the Virgin Islands, recently honored their daughter, Aarone,
at a reception at the Virgin Isle Hotel. The occasion celebrated
her confirmation in the local synagogue, which is the second old-
est in the Western Hemisphere.
Recently returned from the national biennial convention of
the Women's Division, American Jewish Congress, held at the
Hotel Roosevelt; New York, are these delegates of the Detroit
Division: Mesdames Charles P. Feinberg, president, Louis Redstone,
Oscar Hertz, Dennis Barkoff, Albert Marx, I. B. Dworman, William
Burk, Dellis Harwith, Edward Rothenberg, William Glazer, G.
Lionel Willens, Alan N. Brown, Henry Caplan, Meyer Zack, Fanny
Dworman and William Cohen.
Mr. and Mrs. David L. Goldsmith, of Elmhurst Ave., and Mr.
and Mrs. Aaron Soverinsky, of Santa Barbara Dr., have left on
an extended trip to Miami Beach, Fla., where they are guests at
the Nautilus Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dosie, of Highland Ave., and Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Friedman and daughter, of Sturtevant Ave., have re-
turned from a trip to Pittsburgh where they attended the Bar
Mitzvah of their nephew, Howard Wesokey. They also visited
with their sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jules Ballin, of
Long Island, N. Y.
Dr. and Mrs. Seymour D. Berman recently gave a surprise
dinner party at their home, at 12174 Prairie, in honor of Dr.
Berman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark L. Berman, of 2722 Webb,
on their 30th wedding anniversary. Thos e attending in-
cluded Miss Elaine Berman, Dr. and Mrs. Henry Green, Dr. and
Mrs. Jack Sklar, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sklar, Mr. and Mrs. Sol Sklar,
Mrs. William Stein and Mrs. Isadore Baron.

The crowd at the football
game went wild last Friday
when, in the last quarter with
Mumford on the short end of a
6 to 0 score, our boys turned in
a touchdown and made the con-
version. ,
So, the 7 to 6 final score ended
Mumford's first season of com-
petition on a victorious note, and
the players were honored at a
victory dance in the guest gym-
nasium following the game.
Alth'ough the team was hot
Friday, the Y-Teens - left the
game with chattering teeth.
They had been selling dough-
nuts and candy bars to raise
funds for band uniforms.
Open house was held Nov. 12
for parents during 9th, 10th and
11th hours, enabling them to
meet their children's teachers
and acquaint themselves with
classroom procedure.
Councilettes will hold three
oneg shabbatim on Saturday, at
the homes of Betsy Rose, Sherry
Tobias and Lois Greenberg.
Tickets for the Nov. 21 barn
dance will be available.

The audience was hushed, the
cue was given and four Centra-
lites were ready to oppose Red-
ford's team on "Quiz 'em On
the Air," a program sponsored
by WWJ and originating from
the Central auditorium. The
teams had to read the Detroit
News for a week, as questions
asked were based upon material
gathered from that week's paper.
The two schools tied with a
score of 90 to 90. Representing
Central were Jean Brindze, Aud-
rey Katz, Shel Schwartz, and
Miles Hurwitz.
On Thursday, at Northern
High School, the Hearst Ameri-
can History Contest was held,
with 125 participants from 21
schools in the city. Barb Sor-
scher, Carl Pfeifer, Edward
Kroll, Paul Glassman, and Jerry
Kasdan entered from Central.
The choir broadcast from
WWJ with solos going to Estelle
Greene, Paul Kadish, Wayne
Rivers, Sanford Licterman and
Eugene Smoler.
The Unity Forum elected its
new officers for the year, Carol
Mitnick, president; Eleanore
Rudnor, Veep; Carol Rubin,
treasurer; Unus Hart, program
chairman; and Phyllis King,
publicity chairman.

Chapter held its installation in
the form of . a dinner-dance at
the Elmwood Casino. Evie Sipo-
rin was installed president;
Marsha Saitz, veep; Sue Simons,
Rita Glass and Gladys Stein-
metz, secretaries; Judy Berko-
witz, treasurer; Helene Lansky
and Loraine Cohen, sgt. at arms;
reporter, Edna Zucker; chaplain,
Rosalie Klaper; and junior ad-
visor, Sherry Cyporyn.
