She was a member of European Jewish Women's Welfare Organ- i. ization. Mrs. Julia Zechman Dies Mrs. Julia Zechman, former matron of Purity Chapter, OES, a leader -in the Sisterhood of Congregation Shaarey Z e d e k and in other women's organiza- tions here, died Oct. 21 at the age of 74. School Council Plans Maui Leib Memorial A memorial meeting in honor of Mani Leib (Brahinsky), who died in New York earlier this month, will be held at 8:30 p.m., Nov. 6, at the Workmen's Circle Center, under sponsorhip of the Council of Jewish Schools. Wolf Snyder, principal speaker, will address the group on "The Life of Mani Leib and His Works." Sarah Friedman will read several of the writer's poems. Also participating in the program will be students of the United Jewish High School,, who will present a program of songs and readings of Mr. Leib's poetry. Mr. Leib was a member of the staff of the Jewish Daily For- ward and the author of numer- ous volumes of poetry, written in Yiddish. Many of his antho- logies have been translated. into English and other languages. Joseph Comay, the evening's chairman, announces that the general public is invited to at- tend. There is no admission charge. The Council of Jewish Schools will 'hold its annual election meeting on Thursday, with rep- resentatives of the Far band Folk Schools, Sholem AIelchern School and Workmen's Circle Schools in attendance.
