Enthusiastic Response Greets
Balfour Ball Ticket Sellers
"This is the first year that my
prospects have called me to find
out when I am going to be
around with their tickets."
That is how Abraham Borman,
member of the Balfour Ball
committee, described the un-
response by the
community to t h e opening of
ticket sales for the 21st annual
Balfour Ball, to
be held Nov. 14,
at the Statler
Hotel.
Borman will
meet with other
leaders of the
Balfour Ball at
the second re-
port meeting at
8:15 p.m., 'Tues-
day, at the home
of Rabbi Moses
Borman
Lehrman, presi-
dent of the Zionist Organization
of Detroit.
Harry Cohen, chairman, and
A. C. Lappin, co-chairman of the
ball, said much of the special
interest in the sale of tickets is
due to the opportunity offered
_ contributors at a chance to win
a round-trip air trip to Israel.
One of the principal benefi-
ciaries of Balfour Ball funds is
the Zionist House, which in less
than two years since its estab-
lishment in November, 1951, has
a multitude of youth activities,
women's meetings, cultural
events and other Zionist func-
tions. The Zionist House also
provides the headquarters for
the Jewish National Fund Coun-
cil.
Youth groups which meet reg-
ularly at 'the House are Young
Judea and Young Zionist Club.
A. C. Lappin' stated, "It is
groups like these with whom we
try to do our most significant
work. Contributions to the Bal-
four Ball help maintain this
center for young people whose
friendship for Israel will mean
the continuation of Zionist ef-
forts in the future."
One of the features of Zionist
House is the Joseph H. Ehrlich
memorial auditorium, contribut-
ed by Moe Ehrlich in honor of
his late brother. Its flexibility
rmits use for dinner meetings,
dances, or more formal presen-
tations, such as lectures and
plays.
Tickets to the Balfour Ball,
proceeds of which support ZOD
and the Zionist Organization of
America, are in denominations
of $10, $25, $50 and $100.

the New York Times by an hon-
orary vice-president of the or-
ganization demanding that the
city of Jerusalem be interna-

by Michael Francis Doyle of
Philadelphia, one-time member
of the International Court of
Arbitration at The Hague.
Clark M. Eichelberger, execu-
tive director of the Association,
in another letter to the Times,
explained that Mr. Doyle wrote
the letter in his own name and
that the "Association had not
seen his communication aaid
knew nothing about it" before it
was published by the Times. Mr.
Eichelberger added that the as-
sociation has not expressed it-
self on the subject of an inter-
national status for Jerusalem
since 1948, but will discuss it at
the next meeting of the board
