18 years ago, is headed by Wel-
ler, Morris Indianer, vice-presi-
dent; Joseph Lenhard, treas-
urer; and Jacob Reifler, secre-

Plan Joint Sponsorship
Of Yeshivah Campaign

The Synagogue Council of De-
troit will meet Tuesday, at Cong.
Beth Aaron V'Israel, Linwood at
Elmhurst, to discuss major
planning for its major fund-
raising event of the year.
At its last session, the Coun-
cil met with representatives of
the Businessmen's Council of
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah and
decided to hold only one drive
for funds.
A joint affair, to be held Nov.
29, at Latin Quarter, will be
sponsored by both groups, with
the one effort to take the place
of separate campaigns held in
previous years.
At Tuesday's meetings, plans
for a program of speakers and
entertainment will be discussed.
The Council will hold bi-
weekly meetings until the time
of the banquet.

Israel, through the Jewish Na-
tional Fund. Friends and busi-
ness acquaintances are joining
in the celebration.
Tova Ronni, Israeli .singer,
will entertain at the dinner.

8 New Israel Fishing Vessels

HAIFA, (IIP)—After consulta-
tion with the Ministry of Agri-
culture and the Fisherman's
Association, three large medium
sized fishing -- boats have been
ordered with the Reparations
Funds. Each vessel will cost
approximately $50,000 and will
be equipped with latest mari-
time devices. The Germans ex-
pressed themselves able to ful-
fill orders within six to eight
months.

Katz reviewed the 5713 activi-
ties of the Kvutzah. Morris
Nobel reviewed the cultural
work. Bernard Isaacs spoke
about plans for the year 5714.
Solomon Kasdan delivered a
brief talk on the significance of
the Fall holidays. Mrs. Julius
Ring reported on activities of
the Ladies' Auxiliary. Abraham
Shachter led the group in com-
munity singing. Meyer Mathis
was chairman of the program.

Jack Bodzin to Head
Oak Park Synagogue

The Oak Park Synagogue, at
a recent congregational meeting,
elected Jack Bodzin as presi-
dent. He will be assisted during
the coming year by Sol Brown,
vice-president; Arnold Wallace
and Mrs. Leon Firestone, secre-
taries; and Ivan Fiddler, treas-
urer.
Elected. to the board of trus-
tees were Morris Arnowitz, Sey-
mour Barenholtz, Max Dobro-
witsky, George Duchin, Robert
Lewin, Paul Silverman, Seymour
Tarnoff and Joseph Tulcensky.
All officers and board mem-
bers will be installed at the con-
gregation.'s annual dinner-
dance, to be held at 7 p. m.,

Bnai David Auxiliaries
To Sponsor Concert

Four auxiliary organizations
of Cong. Bnai David will com-
bine to jointly present a con-
cert and dance on Nov. 4, at the
synagogue, 14th and Elmhurst.
Funds will provide prayer
shawls for use in the synagogue
on the sabbath and festivals.
Groups merging their efforts
are the Sisterhood, Ladies
Auxiliary, Men's Club and Chev-
ra Ayin Yaacov.
Included in the program, be-
ing prepared under the direc-
tion of Cantor. Hyman Adler, are
the Sisterhood Choral Group,
the Men's Glee Club and the
congregation's professional choir.
The orchestra will be under
the direction of Zinovi Bistri-
tzky, assistant concertmaster of
the Detroit Symphony Orches-

ius violinist of tomorrow."
Seymour Lipkin, son of Dr.
and Mrs. Ezra Lipkin, is one of
the most sought-after concert
artists of the day. At the age
of 4, he made his first public
appearance in Detroit. At 11
he entered the Curtis 'Institute.
He also studied conducting at
the Berkshire Music Center un-
der Koussevitzky, at Wayne Uni-
versity and at the University of
Pennsylvania.
Despite his youth, violinist
Michael Rabin has played with
orchestras and in recital in the
United States, Canada and
Cuba, and has had an Australian
tour. He has made major radio
appearances on the Telephone
Hour and has recorded for Co-
lumbia Masterworks 11 of the
formidable Caprices of Paganini.
He is already a veteran on TV,
having appeared on the NBC
TV Recital Hall and twice with
Milton Berle. Eddie Cantor
called him after one of these
appearances and the boy played
for the comedian's birthday cel-
ebration.
