Jail Ex-Storm Trooper
For Crimes Against Jews

Miss Shyrlee Bloom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Bloom,
of San Juan Dr., has resumed studies at Wayne University where
she is a junior. She recently returned aboard the SS Zuiderkruis
following a summer trip to Belgium, France, England, Holland,
Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
Miss Rae Goldrich, of Buena Vista Ave., recently returned from
Dayton, a, where she was a guest at the wedding of Lee Lefkovi tz
and Rabbi Hyman Chodos.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Cohen and family, formerly of Santa
Rosa Dr., are now residing at 4414 W. Outer Dr.
Mrs. S. L. Kavanau of Los Angeles, a former Detroiter, is the
guest of her mother, Mrs. J. P. Rosenthal of Richton Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fishman (Dolores Stein), formerly of 3029
Buena Vista, are now residing at 17180 Sumner.
Mr. and, Mrs. Stan Brawer, of Sturtevant Ave., entertained at
a recent dinner party in honor of the fourth anniversary of their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Shifman.
Among the prenuptial entertainments for Phyllis Ruth Isaacs,
whose marriage to Joseph Diamond takes place Sunday, were show-
ers given by her sister, Penny Isaacs, at the Stockholm, Mrs. Fan-
nie Diamond and Mrs. Reta Feldman at the Rainbow and Helen
and Daisy Kass at Devon Gables. Mrs. Herman Kass of Wilde-
mere Ave. had a luncheon at her home, and Mrs. Michael Zeffert
gave a luncheon at Dyna Inn. A tea and garden party was given
by Mrs. Samuel J. Caplan. A cocktail and dinner party was giv-
en by Dr. and Mrs. Arnold Kass, and a cocktail, supper and pan-
try shower was given by Dr. and Mrs. H. J. Goodman.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Katzman, of ‘Fairfield Ave., recently enter-
tained 30 guests in the Tropical Room of the Detroit Leland Hotel,
in honor of the sixteenth birthday of their daughter, Ruthe.

19506 Ardmore, is home on furlough following a year and a half
tour of duty with the U. S. Army Air Force in Burtonwood, Eng-
land. He will return to England for another year and a half in a

Gratz College opened its 56th

year of instruction in new quar-
ters in the Rodeph Shalom
building. With enrollment this
year, the largest in the college's
history, the school accepted the
invitation to occupy temporarily
the school building of Cong. Ro-
deph Shalom until the Philadel-
phia .community provides the
college with an adequate build-
ing of its own.

Receives Gift of $500,000

BALTIMORE, (JTA)--A $500,-
000 gift to the new Jewish Medi-
cal Center by Mrs. Rose F. Wein-
berg - and the late Louis Wein-
berg was announced here by J.
Benj amin Katzner, chairman

of the Jewish Medical Center
campaign.
The gift will provide for the
second floor patient area of the
new Sinai Hospital which com-
prises '79 ward and semi-private
type beds and attached nursing
stations, floor laboratories,
treatment rooms, kitchens, so-
laria and offices.

Germans," a prohibited neo-
Nazi and anti-Semitic. organiza-
tion, 11 Germans were sentenced
in West Berlin to terms ranging
from nine months in prison to
fines.
Berthold Exkert, whose record
lists five criminal convictions,
was given nine months. Two
other defendants received six
months each, while four were
sent to jail for three months.
Four fines of $70 each were im-
posed on the remaining four
neo-Nazis on the docket.

Denver Passes Ordinance
Banning Real Estate Bias
DENVER, (JTA)—The City of
Denver has adopted an ordi-

nance governing the submission
of real estate development
schemes which prohibits the in-
clusion of discriminatory re-
strictive covenants based upon
religion or race.
The action of the city council
makes Denver the first city in
the United States to give sub-
stance to the United States
Supreme Court decisions declar-
ing real estate covenants which
discriminate on grounds of race,
color or religion legally unen-
forceable.
