Three Big Events Planned
To oost Israel Bond Sales
Three gigantic, national. pro-
grams, °designed to step up the
sales in the United States of
Israel bonds are planned during
the coming weeks, the first of
which will be held Saturday
evening to Monday, at Shore-
ham Hotel, Washington, D.C.
Many Detroit leaders will at-
tend this parley—the third an-
nual National Economic Confer-
ence for Israel.

Israel Goldstein,
president of the
American Jew-
ish Congress

ists, will be the major speakers.
Other leaders who will deliver
major addresses at the three-
day sessions are David Horowitz,
governor of the new Central
Bank of Israel and former Fi-
narice Minister; Harold J. Gold-
enberg, Henry Morgenthau, Jr.,
and Julian B. Venezky.
The conference is called ex-
pressly to review Israel's eco-

nomic progress and to plan the
final phases of the Israel bond
drive.
Local figures who will partici-
pate in the bond parley are Mr.

Garden on Oct. 20, is another
event in the intensive bond pro-
gram.
Eight members of Israel's Par-
liament, led by Zeev Shepher,
deputy speaker of the Knesset,
will participate. They also will
appear in a number of American
communities on behalf of the
bond effort.
Former president, Harry S.
Truman, will be guest of hOnor
at a public rally in Chicago o
Nov. 28, in the Chicago stadium,
it was announced this week by
Judge Henry L. Burman, chair-
man of the Chicago Bond Com-
mittee. The rally will be Mr.
Truman's first appearance at
meeting sponsored by a Jewish
group since he became a private
citizen.

Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, of
Wayne University, will play
host to divisional conference
chapters at a parley Oct. 9 to
11, at Park Shelton Hotel. Be-
sides regularly scheduled busi-

is planned on Oct. 10.
Heading the sorority's activi-
ties and leading the convention
