A Detroit committee w a s
formed this week to arrange for
the publishing of Rabbi A. M.
Hershman's book, "Isaac Ferret
and His Times," in Hebrew, in
Israel.
Dr. Hershman translated his
own book into Hebrew and his
work was highly praised in Is-
rael by leading scholars. In He-
brew the book will appear un-
der the title "Toldoth Harivosh
Ut'Kufato."

of this volume. Rabbi Yehuda
Leib Maimon, a director of the
publishing house, in a message
to Rabbi Hershman regarding
his book, praised his efforts, as
follows :

book on the life of the Rivosh
and his era was presented to
me to be taken under consid-
eration for publication in He-
brew.
"After car e f ul perusal of
this edition, I find that it
would be a great contribution
to furthering knowledge of the
golden Spanish-Jewish era of
the 14th Century, and that
you were successful, with
great ability and exacting re-
search, in etching a picture of
the Rivosh and the basis of
his era. We would like to see
it appear in Hebrew.
"The Mosad HaRav Kook,
which is the Central Publish-
ing House for works of this
type, is prepared to publish it.
For your information, the
Mosad has published over 500
works on subjects dealing with
Torah and Chachmat Yisrael
to date.
"I think that together with
your manuscript, it would be
worthwhile to print the origi-
nal Responses of the Rivosh as
a study, in a separate volume.
These two volumes, your his-
torical survey of the life of
the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Ben
Sheshet (Rivosh), and his Re-
sponses, would compliment
each other and give our gen-
eration the pleasure of having
brought forth a complete and
meritous historical presenta-
tion."
