ISt Century Arrives Early for Greek Firms Start Oil Willing Operations in Dead Sea Area NEW YORK, Immigrants with Assist from HIAS II Greek-born Ernst Marbach, 52, who after 15 years of wander- ing was told that he and his family could not receive U.S. immi- gration visas until sometime in the 21st Century (Greek quotas are oversubscribed until then), is shown on his arrival at the shelter of !HAS, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. With him are his Aus- trian-born wife, Maria, and their two children, Felicity, 9, and Henry, 6. HIAS officials were able to convince U.S. authorities that the family should be admitted under Mrs. Marbach's Austrian quota rights. Marbach fled to the Orient when the Nazis enterel Vienna, and married his wife in Shanghai where both children were born. Then, in 1948, the Marbachs fled from Shanghai when Chinese Red troops approached the city. The case of allowing the Marbachs to enter the U.S. was taken 'up by HIAS, which has fought it for five years, until final approval was won.
