JDC's Statistical Abstract Reveals

The high level of need among
Jews overseas continued during
1952, when Joint Distribution
Committee aid went to one of
every eight Jews living in 19
countries of Europe and the
Moslem world, the seventh an-
nual edition of the JDC Sta-
tistical Abstract, published this
week, reveals.
Approximately the same pro-
portion of the Jewish popula-
tion of these areas received JDC
aid in 1951 as in 1952, the Ab-
stract indicates, with the num-
ber of assistees rising from 171,-
400 in 1951 to 178,175 in 1952 .
For 1953, JDC has estimated the
total requiring aid at about 175,-
000.
