effort in synagogues from coast

Emanuel Celler, of New York;
Gov. Theodore R. McKeldin, of
Maryland; James G. McDonald,
fdrmer American Ambassador to
Israel; Dr. Carl Voss, president
of the American Christian Pales-
tine Committee; Robert Nathan,
economist; Bartley Crum, states-
man and humanitarian; Pierre
Van Paassen, author and lectur-
er, and Dr. Frank Kingdon,
writer and radio commentator.
The congregations these prom-
inent personalities visit will be
among the many hundreds
throughout the country which
are planning to devote a portion
of their Rosh Hashanah and
Yom Kippur services to obtain-
ing subscriptions for Israel
Bonds. -
Synagogues are using special
tab cards to record subscriptions
so that members of their con-
gregations can indicate their
purchases of Israel Bonds with-
out writing on the holidays.

York has been appointed Medi-
cal Director and Superintendent
of t h e 49-year-old, national,
non-sectarian Jewish Consump-
tives' Relief Society Denver Hos-
pital -and Sanatorium. Dr. Leon
has served the Department of
Hospitals of New York City as
deputy medical superintendent
at Seaview Hospital, municipal
tuberculosis sanatorium; at
Queens General Hospital Cen-
ter; and as medical superinten-
dent of Riverside Hospital.

American Jewry's participa-
tion in Israel's economic growth
will be the • theme of the third
annual National Economic Con-
ference for Israel, at the Shore-
ham Hotel in Washington, D.C.,
Sept. 26 through Sept. 28, an-
nounced Julian B. Venezky,
chairman of the executive com-
mittee of the Israel bond organ-
ization.
Leaders of the Israel bond
campaign from all parts of the
country will attend to consider
the experiences and the prob-
lems involved in the sale of
State of Israel Bonds since the
bond issue was launched in
May, 1951.
At the same time, they will
review the economic progress
and the current problems of
Israel, and plan the final phase
of the bond effort. The period
of flotation for the bond issue,
the first to be floated by the
government of Israel in the
United States, will terminate on
May 31, 1954.
